We are currently recruiting a Channel Development Manager within our Commercial Operations group for one of our large pharmaceutical clients.
They are a leader in developing new and better ways to prevent and treat diseases in pets, farm animals and farmed fish. Their innovative, high-quality medicines contribute to the quality of life, health and welfare of animals around the world.

This position will drive value through the development of collaborative relationships with their key Logistics, Wholesale and Retail partners, and their customers. The role will also drive the implementation of sound operational strategies in line with business objectives.

The major accountabilities of the role are as follows:

Distribution Strategy:

- Lead the business in driving the development of commercial opportunities through the utilisation of key routes to market i.e. Wholesale, Retail, direct distribution solutions.
- Gain an in depth understanding of the distribution channel priorities and objectives by Business Unit, developing and maximising all areas of opportunity.
- Through detailed evaluation and assessment, develop sound and robust strategies for customised supply chains to ensure optimal flow of product from the business to the defined customer base.
- Working closely with the sales and marketing teams to assess the current and future product portfolios and strategic plans to develop and execute strategies for the optimal route to market of products.
- Advise and make recommendations to the various BU Management Teams to align approval on proposed distribution strategies.
Channel Development (Retail/Wholesale/Direct):
- Develop and implement jointly agreed business plans with key partners/customers to achieve business targets within budget in line with the category/channel strategy.
- Work with their key partners/customers to find creative solutions for supply chain challenges which drive continuity of supply and maximise opportunities.
- Internally create a Customer Team approach through leading and directing a network of multi-functional contacts into the customer.
- Thorough understanding of their customers strategy and key drivers - to create awareness internally to ensure an appropriate feed into the business planning process.
- Develop a broad understanding of trade and stock movements inside and outside the UK.
- Working with sales and marketing to explore opportunities to drive volume/value growth across key brands.
- Ensure a broad understanding of the macroeconomic environment and how it impacts on the business and their customers.
- Actively seek, share and implement best practice methods from both internal and external sources.

Logistics Management:

- Drive the performance of their 3PL and wholesale distribution providers.
- Manage Warehousing and Distribution budget within agreed targets.
- Improve productivity and cost efficiency in all areas of Warehousing and Distribution.

Experience/qualifications

- Minimum of a Bachelor degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience of Strategic Negotiation.
- Key Account Management experience.
- Marketing insights/analytics experience.
- Pharma/OTC industry experience preferred.
