End User Computing Manager Hands On

A prestigious London retailer is currently searching for an End User Computing Manager with a strong technical/architectural background. You will be a keen technologist who has a genuine interest in the next generation of desktop services.

Position Purpose

To assure End User Computing Services are constantly aligned to agreed Service Level Agreements and business requirements through proactive and effective staff, supplier and stakeholder management.

Principal Accountabilities

Strategy & Planning:
* Provide advice, guidance and recommendations concerning technical architecture of the End User Computing Systems solutions
* Active participation in the design of the End User Computing environment
* Proactive business engagement to ensure fit for purpose service delivery
* Monitoring, control and communication of service delivery resource management, point of escalation, quality assurance, SLA reporting

Organisation & Capability
* Establish a positive culture of high performance management track and monitor;
* Provide leadership and guidance as a key member of the IT management team
* Provides advice and assistance on work techniques, best practices, and subjectmatter expertise to subordinates

Management
* Independently determines (or recommends) subordinates performance ratings. Provides learning opportunities, evaluates and coaches, and manages underperformers.
* Personalise development plans for team members of the End User Computing team
* Proactive performance and talent management
* Approves leave and time away from work
* Stakeholder management
* Budget responsibility

Technical knowledge/experience/skills

* Knowledge of, and/or a proven record of successfully managing, the delivery of the following specific types of end-user experience improvement-related projects:
* End user services and/or desktop transformation and consolidation;
* Development of roadmaps and implementation plans to migrate a client's key end-user platforms, such as client OS solutions, e.g. migrating from Windows XP to Windows 7, productivity solutions, e.g. MS Office upgrades, and email solutions);
* Migration and virtualization of an end user computing environment.
* Knowledge of, and/or a proven record of success in a role as an internal subject matter expert on, all matters (i.e. installation, configuration, administration) related to End User Computing technologies, including:

* Desktop, virtual desktop, terminal servers, thin client, and end user mobile computing (technologies, architecture and solutions);
* Broad infrastructure technology concepts around software, hardware, networking, printing, data management and security, applications, end user interfaces, remote access, high-availability, disaster recovery and business continuity;
* Windows 7, MAC OS X, Windows Terminal Server, MS Office, Windows 2008/2012, VMware View 5
* Active Directory, scripting (VBS/Powershell/Quest tools) for deployment of Apps, Desktop/App Management (SCCM/SMS/AppSense)
* Cloud computing services, including ServiceNow, Office365 and collaboration technologies.
