They are recruiting for a Portfolio Medical Manager in Medical Affairs.

This role will ensure the provision of medical expertise, insight, governance and project management for the creation and alignment of cross portfolio activities and working practices.

Working with cross portfolio marketing and account management teams identify customer based solutions and provide the required strategic medical input, guidance and governance.

Contract with relevant stakeholders across UK Pharma to establish clear project priorities and provide medical resource requirements for each activity within the Medicines Management and Integrated Healthcare Solutions marketing segments.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Work closely with cross customer marketing, account management and therapy area teams to identify and develop appropriate customer driven activities and working practices.
  • Provide medical strategic direction, expertise and insight by direct and matrix management means, to the development of cross portfolio activities and working practices to ensure that they incorporate a detailed understanding and use of: patient outcome measures, epidemiological evidence requirements and knowledge of patient pathways.
  • Provide the medical governance for all cross portfolio activities and working practices including the development, implementation and maintenance of all necessary systems and processes to achieve this.
  • Develop a personal and continually up to date medical understanding of the changing healthcare environment by engaging with external stakeholders and in order to inform and train relevant internal colleagues.
  • Work alongside Health Economy Business Directors to engage with external healthcare stakeholders and experts to identify cross portfolio customer needs for ongoing clinical development information and/or future company clinical trials and research.
  • Provide medical expertise, insight and governance to the strategic direction and implementation of the digital platform in UK Pharma and the development of the Digital CoE plans.
  • Provide medical expertise, insight and governance to all projects and working practices concerning interactions with patients and patient groups, taking accountability for developing and sharing company ways of working and how they incorporate patient perspectives in the shared value model.
  • Prioritise cross portfolio projects to ensure optimal allocation of medical resources from across the matrix by negotiation with all relevant internal stakeholders including, but not limited to: Therapy Area Medical Directors, MSL Director and other Portfolio Medical Managers.

Candidates must be a GMC registered doctor with the right to practice in the UK and current/recent ABPI Signatory Status

Experience of working with and/or within the changing UK health care environment.
Understanding of how patient outcomes contribute to population outcomes within healthcare systems
Previous Pharmaceutical Medical Affairs experience
Proven ability to lead and motivate medical and scientific professionals
Ability to work collaboratively and lead/project manage across a matrix team
Effective communication skills
Ability to assimilate diverse information in order to solve complex problems and make ethical judgments.
