Job Purpose
Our Procurement mission is to drive value through continually challenging the external supplier cost base and be a Centre of Procurement Excellence. To do this we expect our team to work closely with the rest of the business (cross functionally) to agree Category Strategies, Priorities and confirmed Delivery and Execution.

1. To develop, lead and implement innovative category strategies.
2. Lead their Categories and their Category Teams in accordance with the Procurement Department's targets and the overall Business objective to become the most efficient processor in the world.
3. Provide expert market knowledge and insight.
4. To lead the sourcing, commercial and contractual process with suppliers resulting in robust contractual frameworks which meet all of Group's Corporate requirements.

Main Duties & Responsibilities
* The role will be accountable / responsible for implementing successful sourcing strategies which support the overall business strategy and ensuring best practice application of Category Management is followed.
* Prioritises projects and monitors progress of category plans and ensures risks are mitigated.
* Plans, coordinates, manages and leads multi-skilled cross functional teams in order to achieve best value.
* Ensure engagement and sponsorship with stakeholders in all category plans. Positively and proactively ensure that the outcome of the category management process meets their requirements.
* Maintain and strengthen close working relationships with Group and Divisional Procurement.
* Support the Head of Category in the development and implementation of team and Departmental vision including adherence to the Group Category Management process and where appropriate Supplier Relationship Management.
* Take the commercial lead to ensure necessary contractual arrangements are constructed, negotiated, agreed and service level agreements are successfully constructed. To have the ability to review and advise on contractual layout and SLA's and KPI's.
* To lead/manage and develop their teams including their understanding of the role of a Category Manager within the organisation and the expectations by way of category and contract management/escalation
* Monitor the performance of agreements and proactively take action to ensure all parties meet expectations to the contracts in line with agreed escalation plan.
* Maximise use of all eProcurement tools within the category.
* Manages and monitors the contract database to ensure contract renewal is strategically managed.
* Understands and applies the Procure to Pay process within their category and across the team including any impact on contractual agreements and transactional processes.
* Is an advocate of all Procurement policies and procedures and promotes adoption and compliance across the organisation.
* Tracks, records and reports performance of suppliers, categories, self and those who report in to him/her
* Participate in or lead cross category and cross functional projects as required.

Measures of Success
* Category Plans signed off with line manager and key stakeholders
* Contract database up to date and maintained
* Value Log and Monthly Category and Project updates completed and issued according to plan
* Project Charters agreed and signed off by Sponsor and Line Manager
* Personal Development Plan up to date and agreed with line manager
* Demonstrate Role Model behaviour in delivering value and minimising risk.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

* Proven track record of leading and delivering Category Management in accordance with the Cat Man process inc. developing, agreeing and delivering Procurement strategies with strong experience in promoting and the regular use of e-purchasing tools. Understands the appropriate level of engagement required for successful delivery including a good grasp of P2P requirements and final delivery of Contract Handover
* Experienced negotiator and strong influential skills to obtain buy in and engagement
* Conversant with supply chain analysis and dynamics
* Ability to develop a detailed working knowledge of all regulatory requirements relevant to the contracts and spend categories within their and their teams remit
* Commercially astute and financially literate
* Project Management Qualifications
* Experience within another commercial function
* Experience of leading a variety of key categories

Skills & Abilities
* Well organised and experienced in delivering stretching targets and encouraging creativity whilst leading/project managing cross functional teams to deliver complex tasks in potentially difficult stakeholder management situations (minimum 5 years' experience within a commercial role)
* Analytically strong with strong skills in data interrogation with well-developed presentation and communication skills.

Qualifications
* Degree level or equivalent and Competent in Category Management tools and Techniques
* CIPS Level 6
* Project Management Qualification
* Lean Belt
