Position: Retail Buying Manager
Location: Westcott, Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire
Salary: £45-55k per annum

ROLE:
The Retail Buyer / Buying Manager will manage buying of all product categories for company owned stores and the web, which supports the overall business unit sales volume, gross margin and turnover objectives. The candidate will analyse product, consumer and competitive trends within store markets. The candidate will assist in product designs and must have a high level of knowledge of upcoming trends.

New Era are looking for someone with a passion for the brand and its products, to forecast, plan, and implement the retail buying strategies to maximise sales and profit. Plan and select the range, type and quantity of products according to customer demand.

A key part of this role will be to develop a detailed Open to Buy (OTB) forecast by introducing knowledge and expertise to the business.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Understand analysis of the current business, including bookings and sell-through by category, classification, sport segment, size and colour.
b) Analyse consumer buying patterns, competitor activities and predict future trends. Analyse sell-in/ sell-out / sell- through and mark downs. Develop good communication and positive relationships with store management; assist in troubleshooting and fulfilling store requests and issues.
c) Manage stock levels and where necessary move stock to different stores. React proactively to slow sellers.
d) Work with the Merchandising Manager to create and communicate a vision for product merchandising.
e) Convey market trends to Product Design team with the purpose of creating unique and relevant products. Align with Merchandising and Marketing teams.
f) Utilise market knowledge to provide clear product direction to the design team. Ensure an innovative approach to achieve revenue goals of business unit.
g) Demonstrate an advanced level of product, process, merchandising and market knowledge; reacts to business trends in a timely and efficient manner.
h) Make financial presentations to senior managers; analyse every aspect of bestsellers and ensure that bestsellers reach their full potential.
i) Maintain awareness of competitors' performance; meet with product department and manage the distribution of stock, agreeing timescales and delivery dates; identify production and supply difficulties and deal with any problems or delays as they arise; Manage, train and supervise junior staff.
i) Use specialist computer software, for example to handle sales statistics, produce sales projections and present spreadsheets and graphs.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Ability to manage and coach a team to create followership; collaborating with the wider team in the achievement of the brand plan objectives.
b) Good Microsoft Office skills.
c) High level of understanding of retail buying including OTB 'Open to Buy' budgets.
d) Commercial awareness; industry, market, economy and its influence on New Era.
e) Demonstrate growth in an established brand and/or a new business through new products, services, methods or approaches that are innovative, and uphold the brand values; thorough understanding of the product process.
f) An excellent understanding of the branded sports / lifestyle market place / consumer in EMEA.
g) Proven knowledge in financial line planning, business planning and strategic planning; strong business orientation, analytical aptitude and retail math skills.
h) Strong verbal and written communication skills, including meeting facilitation and presentations.
i) IT and technology savvy.
j) The role requires some travel within EMEA and Internationally.

DESIRABLE SKILLS / EXPERIENCE:
a) Undergraduate degree desirable, preferably in business or marketing.
