Within the Transmissions Structures and Drives Supply Chain Unit a vacancy has arisen for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at our Fabrication Facilities in Barnoldswick.

The role of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager is to:

  •     Act as Technical Authority for the business, ensuring that change control and validation requirements are robustly met.
  •     Ensure manufacturing processes and/or methods of manufacture used are capable of meeting (and continuing to meet) requirements for quality, cost, delivery rate and lead time
  •     Integrate Capability Acquisition and Product Introduction activities into the production facility, buying off new capabilities and methods of manufacture for new parts/assemblies.
  •     Ensure new capabilities/methods are at the required level of readiness for production application.       
  •     Working with the supply chain, drive manufacturing processes towards identified consistent best practice.       
  •     Develop numerate, real time methods for capturing process capability, and ensure it is available and acted on and in new product design.
  •     Lead technical problem resolution and technical improvement activities. Coach the community in the use of Rolls Royce Production Systems  (RRPS) and DMAIC tools.
  •     Lead, manage and develop the Manufacturing Engineering community.
  •     Manage Man Eng load/capacity plans and budgets.    
  •     Manage a team of around 30 Manufacturing Engineers.  

The key requirements are:

  •     You will be highly motivated with good interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to deliver in a challenging environment and be able to work individually and as a member of a multi skilled team with the ability to network effectively at all levels internally and within external suppliers
  •     Professionally qualified Engineer (degree or equivalent experience), preferably a Chartered Engineer.                               
  •     Good understanding of manufacturing processes used in the Aerospace sector
  •     Good understanding of the Global aerospace Supply chain.
  •     Led projects/activities across a range of Manufacturing Engineering processes.                                                       
  •     Demonstrative experience in manufacturing change in a suitable combination of ways, such as facility re-design, facility move, technology insertion, new product introduction, process revalidation, quality improvement.                                                    
  •     Provided technical and professional leadership to a team of Engineers
