Introduction:
We are currently seeking an associate director to work alongside the senior director of a fast paced consumer team within Edelman’s consumer division, JCPR. The role will report directly to the director and will include leading and managing a team, delivering hero campaign results, client management and business development. This role will appeal to an entrepreneurial minded, go-getter who is used to working in a fast paced environment with multiple client contacts.
Previous experience in FMCG, Beauty, Consumer Healthcare, Brand Partnerships and strong media relations and campaign development skills are preferred.

The role:
The successful candidate will be working primarily as part of the team heading up a UK and global portfolio for Johnson&Johnson and GSK brands across the following categories oral care, footcare and visioncare.
This is an exciting and challenging role that will require the candidate to be familiar with inter-agency brand planning, global account planning and strategizing.
We are looking for an enthusiastic team player; a collaborative spirit is required with the team at Edelman, the client and inter-agency teams. As such the successful candidate will have a proven track record of building strong client and team relationships and will demonstrate a can-do attitude.
A great communicator is required for this role, capable of engaging multinational audiences with strategic and creative thinking. The successful candidate should provide evidence of exerting strategic influence and creativity on existing client work. Excellent written work is a must.
An understanding of working on a global brand, or working for a large brand house are also essentials.

Basic Qualifications:
The associate director must have at least nine years of relevant experience in public relations.
Preferred Qualifications
• Proven ability to manage large projects as well as small teams on one or more sizable accounts
• Comprehensive understanding of clients’ businesses, as well as their key stakeholders: consumers, employees, investors, regulators, media, vendors, partners and other businesses/organizations, etc., and will be able to impart this knowledge to account team members
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Demonstrated ability to delegate tactical assignments and accurately judge and edit the work of others
• Able to work with senior staff to develop and execute communications plans based on client goals
• Familiar with best practice communications tactics and public relations tools and will be able to recommend them to clients
• Act as a daily client contact and to be responsible for client-related finance management, including managing large projects within budget.
Competencies
Expected competencies include:
• Client Service – play a major role in the research, planning and development of comprehensive public relations campaigns as part of an inter-agency team
• Serve as daily client contact and as client lead when appropriate
• Oversee quality and operational performance of accounts, ensuring work quality and deadline adherence
• Help set client program goals and manage against them
• Elevate problems to superiors and solicit their counsel when needed but in appropriate measure
• Demonstrate proficiency in writing skills to craft internal and client correspondence, communications plans, press materials, new business proposals, etc.
• Demonstrate tactical proficiency in media relations, including creating and driving outreach plans, message development, management of events, effective pitching and training of spokespersons on speeches and presentations and growth of contact network
• Demonstrate practical and advanced understanding of visual communications, social media and the digital landscape and how to incorporate these channels into client programs
• Generate original ideas for sustainable online community engagement, help integrate them into plans, measure and evaluate them to ensure they contribute to client goal achievement
• Provide ongoing constructive feedback and consistently hold staff accountable for performance, compliance and ethical business conduct
• Help mentor, coach and support team members and ensure you and your staff are constantly developing abilities
• Business Development – Ability to lead new business process, including identifying new business opportunities. Participate in cross-practice and cross-geographical teams to provide clients and prospects with the most compelling team and proposal.
• Proven skills in developing commercial revenues from clients, both new and incremental and experience of P&L responsibility
• Financial Planning and Management Demonstrate – understanding of core financial constructs including revenue, profitability, pricing structures (hourly vs. retainer accounts), budgeting and forecasting
• Lead by example; demonstrate proven strong work ethic
• Help motivate and coach teams to produce quality work and meet client objectives – Manage down, across and up by working closely with staff and peers and by ensuring senior team members meet approval deadlines and stay on track with deliverables
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends and demonstrate understanding of how they integrate into communications programs
