An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Head of Scheme Payroll Services Manager to join our Insurance benefits division of our large FTSE100 organisation.

Primary purpose of the role:

- Leading the Scheme Payroll operations in delivering a continually improving service to a standard that will enhance our reputation in the market by reinforcing the control environment and minimising exposure to risk.

- Developing and implementing effective operational strategies and financial controls to ensure best use of systems, technology and people, that is compliant with current accounting standards and regulations pertaining to the pensions industry.

- Managing all resources to maximise efficiency and control costs; while delivering service that meets and exceeds client expectations and is aligned to the agreed "practice" goals and Business Plan targets


Key responsibilities

- The role will be responsible for actively managing the Scheme Payroll Services operations of a large Insurance and benefits division of our FTSE100 organisation.
 The role will cover all sites where this client service is provided including Darlington, Sheffield and Bristol, the Payroll Managers for the each of the sites and clients will report directly to the Head of Scheme Payroll Services


Responsibilities:
  • - Working with the Head of Scheme Finances and the Pensions Management Leadership Team to develop and deliver the agreed "Practice" short, medium and long term goals and associated business plans for the Scheme Accounts (inc Treasury Management) and Payroll teams
  • - Reviewing the performance of all teams against Business Plan; implementing corrections or improvements agreed with the Head of Pensions Management to ensure that Business Plan is met or exceeded
  • - Maximising opportunities for revenue generation and effective cost control
  • - Leading the various Scheme Payroll teams across the business, developing clear and consistent organisational and people management policies that are properly communicated, fully understood and met at all times
  • - Acting as an example and role model with the ability to cultivate a culture of professionalism and best practice that appeals to staff at all levels in order to raise standards and promote a positive attitude towards potential change and fresh ideas
  • - You will be responsible for leading the Payroll Managers and their respective teams
  • - Assist Payroll Managers undertaking recruitment interviews of vacant posts within the teams
  • - Identify and resolve problems within the teams providing support, advice and decisions for other managers as and when required
  • - Maintain the achievement of contractual KPI results
  • - Hold regular meetings to discuss the delivery of service to clients
  • Assist Senior Management and the business with any projects as and when required

Essential Experience/Skills:
  • - The successful candidate must have a suitable professional qualification with The Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals
  • - Experience and proven ability of management and supervision of staff
  • - A sound understanding of Payroll Services, payroll systems and processes
  • - High level IT knowledge and experience of use of IT systems
  • - Excellent organisation skills and good attention to detail
  • - Excellent communication skills
  • - Energetic and enthusiastic
