Role Profile

Food Buyer - Lancashire - 35-40k

Our Client a leading Food Service Buying and Marketing group are looking to recruit an experienced Buyer. Specialising in delivering food and non-food to the independent sector of the foodservice market, the ideal candidate will be assisting the trading team in implementing Group Buying & Range Strategies.

Managing a range of product categories, the role responsibilities are as follows:-

* Maintaining stock levels and monitoring range review
* Advising members on new supplier and product opportunities.

* Identifying new products and opportunities in the market

* Maximising gross margins through improved cost prices/terms, product substitutions, forward buying and any other method as appropriate to the business.
* Develop promotional and category strategies through working with key suppliers and marketing department.
* Work closely with the group buying team to identify any supply problems or other issues ensuring that any sub-standard suppliers are dealt with in the appropriate manner.
* Ensure that all supplier, product, pricing and promotional details are accurately maintained.
* Establish and maintain relationships with key personnel from member companies and supplier businesses. Assisting members with enquiries and resolving issues where appropriate.
* Provide regular updates to the management team on all activities including financial & budgetary matters.
* To provide a supporting role on key projects through information gathering, data analysis and accounting of project costs, as directed by the trading team.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

* CIPS would be advantageous, but not essential.
* Competent in use of Microsoft suite of packages
* Strong relationship builder
* Drive and motivation
* Strong negotiation skills
* Commercially aware
