Job Purpose
The role of this position is to support projects required by the business. Currently there is a requirement for Transformation for Charging & Billing software.
Knowledge and Qualifications Required
Degree standard or equivalent experience
CPM (Certified Purchasing Manager) or CPSM (Chartered Professional in Supply Management) via the Institute for Supply Management (ISM)
Essential
Previous experience in a Commercial or Procurement role.
Experience Required
Strong knowledge of the Software Category; to include:
Deep understanding of category management or equivalent Line of Business experience of
Software
Strong knowledge of strategic sourcing processes
Effective negotiation skills
Effective contract management of suppliers
Proficient in stakeholder management and communications
Proficient in using analytical tools and techniques
Effective presentation skills
Able to work across all functions and levels of an organisation
Ability to define and measure benefits, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO)
An understanding of the market / supplier dynamics in the Software area
Technical Know How
Understanding and experience in the software category and associated services to include but not limited:
Common off the shelf software
Bespoke software
Software T&Cs - Licensing and support agreements
Enterprise Level agreements
Tier 1 supplier negotaitions and agreements e.g. Oracle, SAP, IBM
An understanding of market/supplier dynamics on the Software category and interdependencies on other related IS categories
Behavioural Capabilities
Ability to bring creative and innovative ideas to delivering procurement solutions
Skilled at developing and working with and through multi-disciplinary teams
Requires ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding ability to make decisions or recommendations on
incomplete information
Prior experience as a buyer, or previous experience as an assistant buyer would be preferred
Commercial Models associated with the category
Good team working skills
Proven record for delivery and driving for high performance
Job Dimensions
As the business demand dictates based in the US
Responsibility as part of a team for supporting procurement Software category spend (OPEX/CAPEX) of up to $45m per annum
Stakeholders / Main Interfaces
Close working relationships are required with a number of major interfaces, namely:
Multi national multi billion pound turnover suppliers up to MD/CEO level
Line of business senior leadership up to CIO
Legal teams US - Senior Counsel
Shared Services / Finance
Regulation US - Senior Counsel
HR US
Taxation US
Key Accountabilities
Accountability for profiling Commodity Services category characteristics, researching supply markets and suppliers and assessing trends
Organises information, tasks and activities using appropriate project management tools and resources
Develops and applies selection criteria and evaluation methodology to match suppliers with requirements and develops a supplier portfolio
Works in partnership with regional/global customers and is responsive to needs to ensure a proactive approach to supplier selection
Plans and executes effective negotiation processes
Scopes and develops regional/global contractual agreements that meet the regional/global category/customer requirements
May take responsibility for a low complexity sub-category
Supports supplier relationship management and contract relationship management
Identifies and mitigates commercial risks, complies with global legislative requirements and identifies value adding opportunities to the supply relationships.
Develops a customer-supplier relationship to maximize regional/global contractual benefits
Monitors and review regional/global KPIs and jointly instigates performance development actions to improve supplier added value
Supports implementation of procurement change initiatives (e.g. may be a change agent)
