Account Manager-Digital Planner(Edelman Digital) career opportunity in UK

Job Title: Account Manager-Digital Planner
Company:Edelman Digital
Job type:Full-time
Location: LONDON
Deadline: 28/08/2013
Job Req #: 2949
Description:
Edelman Digital is the digital and social media arm of Edelman, the largest independent PR firm in the world. Based in London and with a technical & design hub in Brighton, we specialise in fusing the best in design and cutting-edge technology, whilst our social media and search engine marketing experts use the power of online conversation and content to drive traffic and reputation. Our focus is at the intersection of culture, commerce and media, assisting brands in leveraging digital and social tools to further engage their markets.

Role/ Purpose:
The Account Manager – Strategic Planning is the primary contact for planning for the London Digital team, responsible for supporting both existing client work and key new business opportunities. Working closely with different teams across the Digital business, the Planner provides strategic direction borne out of analysis and insights into issues, trends, competitive landscapes, stakeholder behaviour, and other relevant contextual material. As this is a central role within a large and busy Digital team, the role requires genuine agility: the capacity to quickly switch between (and get up to speed on) multiple projects and topics at short notice, as well as providing longer term strategic counsel for key accounts. Additionally, the Planner should be involved in helping employees in the wider team to develop their own research and analysis skills in order to support the creation of effective, innovative digital campaigns throughout the practice.

Formal qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Key requirements:
Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in a strategic digital or brand planning role, covering B2B and B2C clients
Genuine curiosity about people, culture, current affairs and the digital world – keen to understand why things happen, rather than just observing
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and clients of widely varying seniority and background
Proven presentation skills and confidence in servicing external clients, including acting as the lead insight/strategic counsel on selected projects
Exceptional analysis skills – capable of sourcing and distilling large volumes of information to identify the core issues, problems and themes, and then creating workable strategic solutions
Self-motivated and ambitious, capable of working independently and enthusiastically and course-correcting with minimal supervision
Solution-oriented thinking; capable of thinking laterally and using imagination in order to identify the best approach to a new project
Excellent written communications ability, and strong attention to detail
Up to date with trends in digital marketing and comms, as well as broader interests
The ability to successfully manage multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment – including the ability to scope projects with accurate timelines
Basic understanding of other specialist fields (search, measurement), and the points at which they intersect with strategic planning – and ability to judge when to seek help from other specialists
Interest in trends in digital/social media and the ability to see how sector developments can be applied to the task in hand.

Responsibilities:
Providing strategic counsel and direction across all client and industry sectors, as required
Finding, interpreting and analysing research and data, pulling out the key information and stories and applying them to develop strategic solutions
Taking a lead role in the preparation of strategic materials – whether producing documents, or working closely with senior account team members

Working as a liaison, where applicable, with the Creative Director and team – including writing creative briefs and acting as a sounding board during the creative process
As appropriate, moderating internal brainstorming sessions and focus groups
Developing wider planning capabilities by sharing knowledge, research techniques and tools with the Digital team
Growing the strategic planning discipline within SIS through IP, case studies and information sharing
