An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Development Manager to source, target and win new business. The Business Development Manager will identify and build solid, high-level relationships with both existing customers and potential new customers in order to promote and sell the companys portfolio of products.
The Business Development Manager will work within a defined strategy, actively and professionally manage the entire business development cycle, from lead generation and lead management, to closing and handing over to the Programme Management team for product introduction.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Research and develop a detailed and thorough understanding of the competitive landscape and customers requirements and ensure that all business opportunities are fully explored and captured.
-Build, manage and maintain a substantial pipeline of potential business opportunities and ensure that all pipeline activity is accurately documented and kept up-to-date (i.e. Gate 0). Build business cases for the targeted elements of the pipeline and develop win strategies to deliver the business case.
-Win new contracts and sales orders, to meet (and exceed) targets (RF) and growth objectives, whilst being cognisant of profit margin requirements for the business.
-Manage bids for new work, including ensuring appropriate technical input and business content, whilst making carefully judged pricing recommendations.
-Create, prepare and deliver in a timely and organised manner, professional responses to tenders and requests for proposals, presentations, contracts and other documentation. It is essential that such responses are well written, being both grammatically correct and financially accurate.
For Category A and B bids, this should include a comprehensive response, clearly articulating the benefits offer, using evidence to back up claims, such as good delivery performance. It should also incorporate commercial and technical sections from respective departments
-Lead and co-ordinate negotiations with customers, ensuring price lists are up to date and meet financial requirements for margin/profit.
-Establish and maintain good customer relationships, maintaining contact with them and arranging and attending meetings as required. As appropriate, co-ordinate and lead the activities of others to satisfy customer needs, escalating problems appropriately and before they are beyond recovery.
-Work closely with Programme Management and Customer Services to ensure customers receive an effective handover from business development to day to day running of the account
-Develop and produce quarterly and annual sales/orders reports, with key performance indicators and communicate these within the business. Compose and distribute minutes of meetings held to co-ordinate and progress business development activities.
-Professionally and knowledgeably represent the company and its products and services at industry events

Key Skills and Candidate Requirements:
-Bachelors Degree in Engineering/Business
-MBA would be an advantage but not essential
-Prince 2/MSP
-Good Communicator
-Good at networking
-Be able to effectively communicate in both written and verbal format
-Consistent success in your prior working experience
-Understand the business market
-Be disciplined and dependable
-Have strong interpersonal skills
-Be able to work on own initiative
-Be pro-active
