A Warwickshire based organisation is currently seeking to recruit a Category Manager to take on the responsibility for managing £15m spend that is classed as Technology. The category consists of Public Address Equipment (PAVA), Monitors, CCTV, Public Information Points / Help Points and Radio, as well as other specific equipment.
Your role will consist of developing a structured category plan to deliver significant efficiencies and cost savings across the category. You will work closely with the business in developing this strategy and will ensure that any proposed plan has business buy in at all levels. You will produce innovative and class leading solutions to the spend category.
You will strategically source the spend in the most cost effective way and demonstrate real value add from the Procurement function in support of the overall business requirements in the Technology area. You will lead all Procurement activities in support of customer bids and opportunities and ensure that all bid related sourcing decisions are made by Procurement and support the over category and savings strategies.

Deliverables include:-

* The development of a detailed category methodology, plans and strategies that deliver specific and significant short, medium and long term cost savings to the business
Development of a Strategic Sourcing methodology to the Technology category following a systematic Strategic Sourcing approach that compliments that category plan and delivers the overall category strategy.
* Production of Framework contractual agreements with preferred suppliers that fulfils all business requirements.
* Agreeing an annual savings target with the Head of Procurement and key stakeholders and delivering against the target every year.
* Develop a regular Governance and reporting framework to demonstrate delivery against the agreed savings target within the current fiscal year (including all necessary audit back up documentation and savings sign off for each individual saving).
* Working with the Engineering function to support new technology requirements and developments and ensuring that all commercial discussions with suppliers are owned and led by Procurement.
* Working closely with the bid teams to lead all Procurement activities in support of customer bids and opportunities and ensure that all bid related sourcing decisions are made by Procurement and support the over category and savings strategies.
* Classifying all suppliers on a commercial and risk basis and recommending an appropriate Supplier Management approach based on the given classification.
* The ongoing Supplier Performance Management and Supplier Relationship Management of all key suppliers within the Category.
* The support of key business strategies and projects associated with the category and the management of third party RFI / RFQ processes and activities in support of these strategies and projects.
* The development of a stakeholder mapping tool in order to understand the key stakeholders within the Business and determine their current views of Procurement and requirements from Procurement.
* The development of a stakeholder management and engagement plan that will allow you to demonstrate your tailored management approach to all key stakeholders together with a data driven method of demonstrating that their view of Procurement is improving.
* Designing appropriate metrics to be able to demonstrate that the perception, profile and value of Procurement is improving within the business.Must have 5+ years procurement experience in a management role.
* Must have experience in developing category plans and strategy.
* Proven knowledge of Procurement practices in a customer led business environment.
* At least 5 years experience of Technology related categories within a Procurement department in a major Blue Chip organisation.
* A good technical knowledge of the category and sub-categories.
* A genuine appreciation and understanding of procurement process, practices and the value that Procurement can bring.
* A successful track record of following a strategic sourcing / category management methodology.
* A track record in savings delivery within a Procurement organisation.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to demonstrate exceptional stakeholder management approach and skills.
* Demonstrable experience of working with key business stakeholders at a senior level within the business.
* Experience of managing a team through change.
* Excellent negotiation skills and techniques.

The salary for this role is circa £45,000.
