Commercially astute Business Development Manager required for challenging, varied and exciting role with rapidly expanding £60m turnover fmcg business operating in the food sector.
Working closely with colleagues across the business, particularly with Purchasing, NPD, Supply Chain, Logistics and Account Managers, you will play a key role in identifying and sourcing new products and brand extensions, commercially assessing products and markets (branded and own label), performing appraisals from a marketing perspective and carrying out full costing analysis (ie , cost of bringing products into the UK from overseas and logistics costs generally), price setting, etc.You will liaise with suppliers/potential suppliers on a global basis.
The post of Business Development Manager is 'hybrid' in the sense that it engages you in Category Management, Sourcing/Buying, NPD, Market/Product analysis, development of product sales strategies and the writing of P&L and budget targets.
Key duties and responsibilities of the Business Development Manager will include:
* The sourcing and development of all new products and brand extensions to drive company profits and sales targets.
* The identification of all new product developments through category management in line with both customer and internal business strategy.
* Provision of cost data analysis for use by the sales team during commercial negotiations with customers
* In collaboration with the Purchasing team, the sourcing and management of new suppliers in line with findings from category reviews.
* Close liaison with NPD team.
* Present category reviews to business, customer and supply base.
* Negotiate cost prices with suppliers, maximising competition to deliver the required margin aspirations
* Project manage tenders.
* Support and develop NAM's as part of the senior team.
Applicants for the post of Business Development Manager must have significant relevant commercial experience in the fmcg/food sector and in depth knowledge of indentifying product/business opportunities within the major multiples, wholesale or food service sectors. You must also be able to demonstrate a proven track record in managing all of the commercial aspects of launching new product and brand extensions from initial identification through costing, pricing and launch.
