As a Senior Network Engineer in the Infrastructure Service Delivery Engineering group, you will be working in a team responsible for the design, engineering and implementation of network services across the global Ernst & Young environment. These services are supported by various WAN, LAN and WLAN products, technologies and vendors across Data Center and Branch Office environments. Additionally you will provide consulting services to other teams, and act as a level four escalation point for operational issues.
Responsibilities
Technical Competence:
* Create designs based on industry best practices, sound engineering principles and have the ability to incorporate both local and global requirements into the designs produced.
* Participate in projects and act as the central contact point for network related questions and to develop infrastructure designs.
* Provide technical knowledge as input into Standards creation and update on an ongoing basis as products and technologies evolve
* Participate in RFI/RFP evaluation process for contractor/technology selection.
* Assist in the management of vendor relationships ensuring provision and management of appropriately skilled resourced from the vendors as required.
* Act as a consultant to the other teams for network related matters and questions.
* Complete technical network deliverables on assigned projects
Administration
* Maintain responsibility for individual resource utilisation whilst working on projects, meeting defined capacity models and providing regular utilisation reporting
* Working with the Service Delivery Team(project management), ensure projects are resourced correctly and from this that they meet deadlines and budgets
* Ensure compliance to key performance indicators (KPIs), suggesting changes where necessary to promote efficiencies in the IT Service processes and procedures
* Ensure full and correct time capture on a weekly basis for all project and administration work to allow effective top level reporting

Qualifications
* A degree in Computer Science/Engineering or a related discipline, plus industry accreditation or equivalent work experience
*
Industry accreditation desirable (CCNP, CCIE for example)
Knowledge
* Advanced skills in planning, designing and troubleshooting complex network environments.
* Experience in designing and implementing enterprise network solutions in data center and branch office environments including routing, switching and wireless LAN technologies; local and global data center load balancing solutions; DNS, DHCP and Active Directory environments; WAN optimization, Rate Limiting and QoS technologies.
* Exposure to various facets of data center and branch office build-out including planning, designing and implementation of facilities and structured cabling solutions.
* First-hand knowledge in designing network solutions to enable integration of VMWare, blade, cloud and converged network environments.
* Working knowledge of wireless LAN radio and security concepts, including site surveys and wireless Guest Access solutions.
* Experience in evaluating, designing and implementing multi-vendor global WAN networks for integrated (voice, video, data) traffic using various connectivity means including MPLS, IPSEC VPN and others.
* Ability to document processes, procedures and network designs clearly and accurately for distribution to internal teams and customers
* First-hand knowledge in designing network security solutions to enable integration of virtual and cloud computing environments leveraging products such as VMware Vshield.
* Knowledge of various perimeter security solutions technologies in the data center and branch office environments including firewalls, remote access VPNs, IPS/IDS systems and Secure Web Gateway solutions is desirable.
* Strong ability to document processes, procedures and network designs clearly and accurately for distribution to internal teams and customers.
* Maintain awareness of new and emerging technologies and the potential Infrastructure service offerings and products provided by IT.
* Understanding of other technologies required to run an enterprise level infrastructure
Experience:
* Substantial, extensive and demonstrated experience in various aspects of technology infrastructure design and implementation, with tangible, relevant and demonstrated experience in delivering projects within scope and budget
* Demonstrated experience in dealing with external vendors and suppliers in the network industry
* Demonstrated skills in developing actionable roadmaps and implementing these efficiently
* Strong experience in network and systems security, not only a key understanding of overall concepts, but also the ability to implement policies, processes and develop solutions to network and security problems.
* Proven ability to understand infrastructure requirements and translate them into solutions including developing designs, device configurations, IP addressing and switch port schema, providing solutions and support to various cross-functional teams.
