Our client is looking for an Animal Behaviour and Welfare Programme Leader to join their team based near Dorchester, Dorset.
You will need experience and knowledge of teaching subjects related to Animal Management, Animal Behaviour, Animal Welfare or Animal Science.
You will be delivering on degree programmes including foundation science degrees. A teaching qualification will be required.
The role may also involve mentoring and tutoring other colleagues.
Job Purpose:
Coordinate and manage all activities relating to the Animal Behaviour and Welfare degree programmes and teach within the curriculum area
Vision
You will work closely with the Head of Higher Education, Academy and Section Heads and staff who teach on or support our HE provision within the broad field of animal behaviour and welfare and will continue to develop a stimulating and supportive learning environment for students and staff. The person will be a confident, successful HE lecturer, able to design and manage the development of HE programmes and teaching staff. Experience of managing a teaching team is essential as is experience of programme development and validation. The ability to deliver units on cognition and knowledge of statistics is vital.
Main Tasks and Duties:
To programme lead the degree programmes in Animal Behaviour and Welfare
Plan and co-ordinate the teaching / learning timetable for the programme area they lead in consultation with the Section Lead and Head of Higher Education and within the framework determined by the Assistant Principal Curriculum & Quality
Plan and review course content in consultation with colleagues within the ethos of continuous improvement.
Prepare for and attend Programme Team Meetings and complete the Annual Report on Framework Monitoring.
Prepare for and co-ordinate programme validations with the Head of Higher Education to ensure the continued quality and relevance of our HE provision.
Manage a team of lecturers that deliver on the degree programmes in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and teach on the Marine Ecology and Conservation programme if required.
Deliver units on the degree programmes in Animal Behaviour and Welfare and teach on the Marine Ecology and Conservation programme if required.
Prepare the above programmes for audits from all related bodies.
Person Specification:
Educational Qualifications / Experience
Essential
Honours degree level qualification or equivalent
Teaching at HE level and working with an HEI
Delivery of topics relating to animal behaviour and welfare
Experience of HE curriculum development (including programme validation)
Proven success as a lecturer
Desirable
PGCE or equivalent
Delivery of topics relating to marine ecology and conservation
