JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL), ideally with respiratory experience to cover Scotland.
You will join a highly skilled team whom you will provide scientific support as well as conduct peer-to-peer, robust scientific dialogue with external experts. This role is with a top 3 pharmaceutical company.
Our client is a world leading research-based pharmaceutical company, with leadership in four major therapeutic areas - anti-infectives, central nervous system (CNS), respiratory and gastro-intestinal/metabolic.
PRIMARY DUTIES
* Work with colleagues in field and therapy medical teams to understand who are the External Experts, professional groups, decision makers and other key stakeholders in their assigned therapy area and geography.
* Working with their assigned therapy area medical team, input to the development and implementation of effective medical affairs plans.
* Conducts peer-to-peer, robust scientific dialogue with external experts (e.g. Health Care Professionals, Payers, Patient groups), selected according to their relevant experience and uses this to generate insights and secure advice that informs development of medicines of value, for the ultimate benefit of patients.
* Conducts individual 1:1 proactive / reactive discussions and meetings with contracted clinical study investigators, steering committee members, advisory board members, consultants etc., on topics related to the work being conducted. The MSL can be involved in ad hoc, unplanned scientific discussions with External Experts where there is no pre-determined intent to gain advice and the MSL does not instigate discussion of pre-authorisation or off label information.
* Responds in a timely and accurate manner, to unsolicited requests for on or off label information or safety concerns from HCPs. Responses can be verbal or written and must be sourced from / consistent with WISDOM or approved Medical Information letters.
* Delivers scientific presentations as required to Pharmacy, Therapeutics and Formulary committees.
* Support clinical development activities in their assigned therapy area by participating in site identification and assessment, addressing subject retention and other scientific issues in partnership with therapy area medical and study management team.
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
* Accredited Health Care Professional or Life Science Degree. Ideally candidates will have a higher degree i.e. MSc / PhD.
* Experience of working as a Medical Science Liaison / Regional Medical Advisor / Scientific Advisor is strongly preferred.
* Valid UK driver's license
