GSMA Connected Living Programme – Director of Propositions Context The GSMA is looking for a Director of Propositions to work within a cross-functional team that aims to position the GSMA as a thought leader in the quickly evolving Connected Living space.
 A critical part of delivering this objective is to develop sustainable business models and solutions in partnership with the different vertical industries that the Programme covers. This is a leadership role
 that will focus on developing the specific propositions that will become interoperable service launches, as well as provide knowledge and advice to the GSMA membership to support their understanding of the products/service that can be developed and how mobile operator assets can be leveraged. This position will include support to vertical teams on their engagements with senior government officials, academia, technology providers and ecosystem thought leaders.
The role will encompass the following broad areas:
• Defining propositions for large scale interoperable services in Health and Education – 40%: Working with our vertical expert leads, technology experts and external stakeholders to define propositions where mobile operators’ role is clearly defined beyond simple connectivity.
• Defining propositions for Smart City demonstrators– 50%: Working with our Smart City Demonstrator team, technology experts and external stakeholders to define a strategic vision for the cities on how to become a mobile smart city and the propositions that build up to that vision where mobile operators’ role is clearly defined beyond simple connectivity.
• Operator market trials – 10%: Support vertical teams with the creation, implementation and evaluation of market trials. Identifying the potential opportunity for mobile operators and how to unlock new business models.

Context
The GSMA represents the interests of the worldwide mobile communications industry. Spanning 219 countries, the GSMA unites nearly 800 of the world's mobile operators, as well as more than 200 companies in the broader mobile ecosystem, including handset makers, software companies, equipment providers, Internet companies, and media and entertainment organisations. The GSMA is focused on innovating, incubating and creating new opportunities for its membership, all with the end goal of driving the growth of the mobile communications industry. In addition, the GSMA also embraces more than 200 major vendors, partners and suppliers to the industry as Associate Members. These include many of the world’s leading mobile brands, from Ericsson, Nokia, LG and Huawei to major content and internet companies. Furthermore, we are established as a major inter-industry resource, partnering with those sectors seeking to leverage mobile to reach their strategic goals, for example financial services. Finally, we engage with a wide range of governments, & regulators, NGO’s, for example The World Bank or UN and philanthropic organisations such as the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The GSMA is governed by a 25 member board, comprising CEO level representatives from many of the world's leading mobile operators, among them AT&T, Bharti Airtel, China Mobile, NTTDoCoMo, Orange, Telefonica, Telecom Italia-TIM, T-Mobile International and the Vodafone Group. The GSMA's work is focused on three areas:
• Mobile Broadband - Development of a ubiquitous Mobile Broadband infrastructure and the proliferation of devices that will connect the world’s population to the Internet.
• Mobile Lifestyle - Creation of innovative services and experiences that are delivered on the mobile infrastructure and unite the attributes of the web and communications world.
• Mobile Planet - Leverage mobility to help enrich and improve the lives of individuals across the developing world, bringing services to these markets in a socially responsible manner. Criteria
In order to drive success in this area, this role is required to provide Connected Living knowledge in order to achieve the following objectives:
 • Provide strategic direction to GSMA member operators, Governments and key stakeholders around the world to support the development of their Connected Living proposition portfolios and ensure relevance to vertical sector needs.
• Evangelise the use of mobile for the delivery of Connected Living services and the benefits it will bring, explaining the capabilities of mobile operators that can be leveraged by the vertical sectors.
• Provide hands on support during the development of Connected Living large scale services around the world and Smart City demonstrators in areas such as Service Design, Business Case development, Implementation requirements and Service evaluation.
• Provide hands on support to selected cities on the definition of their mobile strategy and proposition design. In order to drive success in this area, this role is required to provide Connected Living knowledge in order to achieve the following objectives:
 • Provide strategic direction to GSMA member operators, Governments and key stakeholders around the world to support the development of their Connected Living proposition portfolios and ensure relevance to vertical sector needs.
 • Evangelise the use of mobile for the delivery of Connected Living services and the benefits it will bring, explaining the capabilities of mobile operators that can be leveraged by the vertical sectors.
 • Provide hands on support during the development of Connected Living large scale services around the world and Smart City demonstrators in areas such as Service Design, Business Case development, Implementation requirements and Service evaluation.
• Provide hands on support to selected cities on the definition of their mobile strategy and proposition design. Specifically: The role requires an individual who is a well-organised team leader, with in-depth knowledge regarding the M2M / Connected Living ecosystem and great enthusiasm of the mobile opportunity in this space.
• Track-record in the ICT industry, having worked for a manufacturer, provider, telecoms provider or in a consultancy role, with exposure to educational technical solutions and implementations
• Experience in the development of products and services
 • A detailed understanding of the global M2M/ Connected Living market and key stakeholders.
• A good understanding of the mobile technologies and how they can be integrated in to potential new services • A strategic understanding of the future of Connected Living and how mobile could play a role.
 • Highly professional and entrepreneurial in spirit, self-starter who is excited about building new capabilities within the GSMA
• Comfortable interacting with senior internal and external stakeholders, including C-level executives, across industry and governments organisations.
• A relationship builder, able to represent and engage with a wide range of stakeholders, partners and suppliers
• Have experience in working in an international environment, working with geographically dispersed teams
• Strong analytical skills
• Smart, collaborative, relationship and outcome focused.
 • Willingness to travel regularly on an international basis
