Key areas of responsibility

Safety, Quality, Hygiene
-Compliance of products, processes & personnel to current EU and UK food safety legislation
-Manage, update, communicate & audit for compliance to quality, safety and GMP standards.
-To advise on food safety issues, managing HACCP studies and first production runs.
-Assist QA team with Trading Standards, local EHO, accreditation bodies & retail customers site audits, enquiries and complaints. Drive and maintain GMP standards, communicating requirements to site teams.
-Promote & encourage a culture of high standards in food safety and quality, leading by example.
-Personally demonstrate the correct safety behaviours, ensuring safe operating practices are followed.
-Support site initiatives to reduce accidents and near misses.
-Participate in safety and quality audits, documenting non-conformances & driving corrective actions.
-With service provider, ensure compliance for effective pest control and hygiene standards

People Management
-Develop team in awareness of site processes, materials, factory and business activity.

Operations Management
-Support the QA team and laboratories, responsible for testing and releasing/rejection or downgrading of raw materials and finished product. Monitor quality with reference to agreed materials specifications to ensure that standards of product safety & quality are maintained
-Improve and maintain systems and controls to ensure that food safety & quality of product is at the forefront of all activities.
-Monitor, by auditing, compliance to agreed CTOPs, site quality procedures, product- & process-specifications.
-Collate and report trends of site monthly reports and KPI's
-Promote a continuous improvement approach to improve product quality & reduce customer complaint levels year on year.
-Manage quality issues of first production runs.
-Develop as part of a multi-disciplined team to optimise resources, flexibility, performance and cover.
-Control hygiene and pest control contractors, ensuring satisfactory service through monitoring standards, visits and corrective actions.
-Define and promote, by being a clear role model, the behavioural standards expected of employees
-Support the structured recruitment, training and development of staff to build a team that operates self sufficiently to consistently high standards and promoting a high achiever philosophy through tailored personal development.
-Identify own training needs and with manager agree a time plan for achieving
-Key in development and implementation of software systems to effectively manage technical requirements.

Continuous Improvement
-Drive initiatives for improving GMP, food safety & quality of product.
-Promote a continuous improvement approach to reduce waste/downgraded product and quality complaints
-Deliver continuous improvement projects from ideas generation to completion. Track effects of improvement projects and report on progress.
-Responsible for achieving personal development objectives.

Communication
-Liase closely with colleagues within and across support functions (Logistics, Production, Engineering & Finance) to ensure quality or GMP concerns are appreciated
-Meet with team during each day to ensure priorities and concerns are communicated.
-Influence colleagues to achieve the required outcomes
-AX Superuser

Person Specification:

-Bsc Food or related subject
-At least 2 years experience, food hygiene qualification
-HACCP, Food testing
-Good report writing skills
