Assistant Buyer

Victoria Plumb has enjoyed phenomenal success and expansion in recent years, and as part of our ongoing investment programme and to ensure continued growth and success we are now looking to strengthen our buying team by recruiting an Assistant Buyer.

The Role:
Reporting to the Head of Buying, the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate previous experience in a buying department as either a Buyer's Admin Assistant or as an Assistant Buyer.

Core Accountabilities
*To support the delivery of sourcing and trading of the designated product category which comply with the overall company strategies.
*To support the development of the portfolio strategies for designated product area
*To partner closely with the Supply Chain team in order to deliver financial goals
*To maintain and gather key commercial and business critical information as set out by the requirements of the Head of Buying
*To assist in the development and maintenance of strong vendor relationships and strategic partnerships with manufacturers.
*To own key product, promotion and margin negotiations with a select number of suppliers within a product area as designated by the Head of Buying
*To develop a product marketing strategy and create compelling promotional activity in development with the Marketing department
*To support the day to day administrative functions of the buying function
*To provide research and analytical support to the Head of Buying that helps identify and translate sales patterns and lifestyle trends in to a compelling product mix
*Contribution and adherence to best proactive disciplines in all areas of the department

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Candidates for this role should have a good level of commercial awareness and demonstrate a desire to deliver financial goals.

A confident communicator who can support creative thinking within the department and work well in a fast paced environment.

Demonstrate an ability to work at times without direction whilst also being able to take and act upon clear instructions in an accurate and timely manner is critical. A strong desire to progress and contribute as the requirements of the business dictate is essential.

*Strong organisational skills supported by commercial logic

*Ability to prioritise and time manage themselves

*Be passionate about the product and have an appreciation of products in our marketplace and therefore an understanding of what our offer should be

*Self-motivated completer of tasks with a can do approach to working, doing whatever it takes to get the job done

*Works well with others across the business and is willing to find new ways of integrating with colleagues to support the development of the team and the business

The role will be based at our head office in Hull, and offers an excellent basic salary, and an outstanding benefits package.
