Secondary Introduction Text:The Designer performs the engineering design function by applying his/her technical expertise in a professional manner in order to comply with prescribed objectives.

Responsibilities & Tasks:
Responsibilities are carried out within a regional structure environment whereby normal line management reporting is to the Design Office Supervisor. Project, workload and priority reporting is to the Project Engineer, Programme Manager or SLS Support Engineer. The predominant responsibility is to the relevant Design Office Supervisor.
- Understands and integrates top-level business goals with their technical activities.
- Assist in the development and establishment of new technologies and core technical competencies.
- Ensure optimum mechanical solutions will work with current product or proposed products.
- Assist in the development of prototypes, verification/validation units and product specifications, including material specifications, assembly drawings and manufacturing documentation.
- Select "standard" products to suit system solution provided by system engineer.
- Liaise with Research & Development and Product Development and other engineering disciplines to ensure non-qualified products are suitable with current planned developments and ensuring current best practise all round.
- Has a continual awareness of new and advancing technologies and provides conceptual and practical applications for products used.
- May provide sustaining engineering direction and support for existing products.
- The Designer is capable of identifying and implementing technical solutions to suit Aker Subsea needs.
- Assist in the training and mentoring of apprentices in their development of Aker Subsea product awareness.
- Ensure that all drawing related documentation is as per the related company and industry standards.
- Ensure that all engineering designs are suitable for manufacture and assembly.
- Additionally, when workload demands, the job holder may be assigned other duties as defined by the Supervisor.
Create Intellectual Property (IP) through idea and product submissions and patent applications.
The Senior Engineer assures the protection and completion of these activities for both themselves and other members of their workgroup. Is capable of managing activities of engineers, graduates and mentors less experienced technical staff. Attend meetings and meet with suppliers. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Personal Attributes:- HNC/HND with relevant industry experience
- Demonstrable relevant design experience preferably within the Oil and Gas industry
- Will have working knowledge of offshore working techniques and ideally will have had exposure to the offshore working environment
- Demonstrable experience in the ability to carry out all elements of mechanical design within Topside & Subsea Controls Systems covering Hydraulic and Electrical Power Distribution and Supply, Instrumentation and Flow measurement, material selection, and welding practices
- Demonstrable experience in the ability to carry out all elements of mechanical design within a Xmas Tree & Wellhead Subsea System with the inclusion of operating/running tools, material selection, and welding practices
