Our client is a leading Pharmaceutical and Medical Device company with an extensive product range within the Vision Care/Ophthalmology market. They currently have a very exciting opportunity working as a Category Manager to join their team in Surrey.

Candidate background:
Degree educated
Minimum 3 years of experience in an FMCG Category Manager role
Thorough and practical knowledge of category management best practice
Track record of developing category insight from market data
Demonstration of creating category rationale from limited data sources and thinking creatively to position commercial arguments
Strong presentation skills
Knowledge of a variety of market and shopper research techniques
Ideally FMCG key account management experience
Ability to influence key accounts at category director level
Experience in managing 3rd party agencies
Strong analytical skills and ability to translate data into category recommendations
Proven ability to lead; manage and influence people cross-functionally
Experience of a variety of data sources (e.g. Nielsen; IRI; Kantar; dunnhumby)
Good understanding of FMCG environment with exposure to a variety of retail accounts
Demonstration of creation of Category Vision through utilising existing data sources and commissioning new research then delivering Vision to business and tailoring to channel and account
Retail operations experience and/or understanding would be preferred
Budget management
Line management experience
Demonstrable project management experience

Role responsibilities:
To be the UK specialist for market and category knowledge which will be utilised internally to shape brand & category plans and externally to shape customer plans
To continually develop category insights and vision from existing purchased data
To determine market and category knowledge gaps and identify and manage bespoke market and shopper research to close those gaps
To be responsible for all market data input to the business including 3rd party agency management
To lead the process of market and category knowledge reporting and educate internally amongst sales team
Delivery of customer facing category reviews
Create and deliver insight driven presentations to key accounts to address bespoke commercial issues
Work alongside brand and professional teams to ensure clear category rationale drives all activity
To lead UK category growth projects implemented by European Category Knowledge Manager
