GENERAL STATEMENT ABOUT THIS ROLE
To ensure the effective running of the finance department in the hotel, with a focus on providing high quality and accurate service, as well as a developing a team of employees who work in a safe, hygienic and encouraging environment

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Self Accounting

* Add things up
* Create, maintain and modify standards of performance that reflect the business and the needs of the business in line with Brand Standards, and which address the satisfaction and delight of our guests
* Maximise revenues in the hotel through -

Stock control
Efficient & economical purchasing
Cost efficiencies
Judicious staff rostering
Effective recruitment of capable, well-presented employees

* Ensure all financial responsibilities within the finance department are met, paying close attention to -

Preparing annual budgets
Forecasting

* Ensure all legal responsibilities within the finance department are adhered to, especially with reference to -

Health & Safety
Fire precautions
Security and safety
 
* Motivate, inspire and manage finance employees by the use of -

Departmental induction training
Empowerment
Coaching
Appraisals
Discipline and grievance
Effective delegation
Nourish through training
Communication
Enjoyment

* Take ownership of the finance department, paying attention to and dealing effectively with -

Premises, plant and fixtures
Employee appearance and uniforms
Responding to external and internal guest enquiries and comments

* To provide guidance for management by directing, preparing and providing accurate financial analysis
* Assures compliance with internal controls and checks
* To prove that hotel control systems are working accurately by performing checks and audits
* Analyses variances to budget in operating statements, making appropriate recommendations
* Identifies operational areas that are inefficient and suggests solutions
* To authorise accounting related documents according to Company policy
* Optimise cash flow according to Company policy
* To comply with all applicable laws, rules and regulations by preparing and filing tax and licence information returns
* To assure the collection of accounts receivable
* Reviews and maintains accurate files on all contractual obligations of the hotel
* To prepare reports as requested, as well as compiling daily, weekly and monthly reports
* To direct the preparation of credit checks and the month end report
* To assist all departments in the compilation of budgets
* To fully participate in the Duty Management schedule

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Work safely and securely and ensure that other employees are doing the same

* To attend all training sessions and meetings as requested

* To work within a team and help where required within the business

* To ensure your appearance meets the hotel standard at all times, including well maintained and clean clothes/uniform and the highest levels of personal hygiene

* To be fully aware, competent in and follow at all times -

- Hotel fire procedures
- Hotel security procedures
- Hotel health & safety policy and procedures
- Hotel facilities and opportunities to promote these to customers
- Hotel and departmental operational standards and procedures
- Short and long term sales and marketing promotions
- Customer service standards
- Company and Hotel performance and conduct guidelines, policies & procedures
- To attend all fire, health & safety training as requested

* To make suggestions to your manager where possible, which you feel will benefit the operation, customer service and/or the success of your department and the hotel

* To report for duty on time and on the days rostered

* To be familiar with and work to the stated standards both as an individual and a member of the hotel team to achieve the Hotel Mission Statement

* To achieve and maintain the highest levels of customer service to both external and internal customers at all times
