ABOUT US:

HMP Lowdham Grange is an East Midlands Prison near Nottingham. It is a long term category B establishment for adult male prisoners.

ROLE OVERVIEW:
As the successful canddiate you will be working with prisoners and staff and applying your competence in the area of Forensic psychology to reduce the risk of harm and of re-offending in offenders.
You will have responsibility for assisting in enabling the delivery of an effective and efficient forensic psychology service to HMP Lowdham Grange.
The main element of your role will involve the responsibilities of being the Self Change Programme (SCP) Treatment Manager in accordance with Interventions Service (IS) audit criteria as outlined in the SCP Managers Manual. Emphasis will also be placed on providing high quality forensic risk assessments and interventions for both Determinate and Indeterminate Sentenced Public Protection prisoners, providing consultancy to other professionals and designated support and supervision for the Forensic Psychologists in Training working with the same prisoner population.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Essential - A Chartered Forensic Psychologist, as recognised by the BPS and a full member of the DFP and HPC registered.
* Desirable - Demonstrable forensic experience post chartership. Professional training qualifications in for example HCR-20, SARN, SARA WAIS IV and CBT. PCL-R Certification

EXPERIENCE:
* Essential - Conducting risk assessment and report writing. Experience of working in a secure environment.
* Desirable - Previous work with Offending Behaviour Programmes. Case formulation and conducting one to one interventions. Experience of working with a wide rage of offenders including violent offenders. Skills in staff training and development.

KNOWLEDGE:
* Essential - Knowledge of best practice in forensic psychology. An understanding of the requirements of co-ordinating and designated supervisors. Understand the difference in needs between determinate sentenced and indeterminate sentenced prisoners and how these needs can be addressed. Working with Risk Assessments (e.g. HCR-20,PCL-R)
* Desirable: Research of a qualitative and quantitative nature and the use of S.P.S.S. Psychometrics & Intelligence Testing

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

* Good leadership skills.
* Be able to work independently.
* Have good verbal/written communication skills.
* Be able to work with staff at all levels and a prisoner population.
* Be committed to helping to reduce re-offending by assisting in positive change in prisoner lives
