The Buying Graduate Scheme:
From trainee to brilliant Buyer in just two years.that's the kind of progress you can expect on the Buying graduate programme. Post induction, you will be given two placements on the Trading floor where you'll have immediate responsibility for a buying area and will get involved in negotiations with suppliers - a great start to the cut and thrust from day one!
You'll also spend some time in Marketing and Merchandising to gain insight into what makes a well-rounded Buyer. We'll develop and support you all the way with training in key areas such as negotiation skills and product development. You could become involved in any number of key projects - grads from previous intakes have worked with the Kiddicare team; directly with our Group Commercial Director; helped develop our new local convenience outlets and a lucky handful have even worked on international projects travelling abroad.
Once you become a Buyer, you will own a category which could be worth around £200 million - be it pizzas, biscuits or yoghurt - and drive your business area forward. It's far from just haggling over a price; you'll get involved in product development, speaking to customers and stores to understand wants and needs and delivering sales and profits.
If you're good - and there's no reason why you won't be - you can expect to become a Buying Manager in around 5 years and Trading Manager in 7-10 years. The Buying programme is widely varied, hugely challenging, highly rewarding and the possibilities are endless!
You'll need a real desire to roll your sleeves up and get stuck in as you'll be given lots of responsibility from very early on. With us no-one stands on ceremony as we're all in this together, to create an amazingly successful brand
