Based within the Engineering team, the role is responsible and accountable for the day-to-day mechanical engineering support. Ensuring that new build operations teams have the necessary technical support and documentation for all Ontic UK equipment, current and future, the postholder is required to work alongside internal and external stakeholders. The role will measure the performance of the equipment against agreed metrics, KPI's and company standards and will require travel within the UK to provide technical support to customers, suppliers and sub-contract partners as and when required.

The successful candidate will:

* Provide mechanical technical support to some Customers and all of the internal OEM Operations teams; external suppliers / sub-contract partners.
* Provide support to New Product Introduction (NPI) activities as a result of new license or acquired product lines.
* Undertake detailed analysis and testing of mechanical assemblies to enable the investigation of in-service or build problems.
* Undertake material specification reviews to assess the suitability of alternate materials.
* Undertake material investigations including engineering testing to determine the suitability of alternate or new materials for parts and processes.
* Undertake mechanical component level analysis of compatibility of alternate components as a result of obsolescence.
* Prepare technical documentation: reports; specifications; change notes; engineering concessions; and co-ordination memos for internal and external use.
* Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities to resolve internal and external technical problems with product and/or processes.
* Attend regular technical and programme review meetings as required to support tasks.
* Ensure that mechanical technical support delivery promises and are adhered to and adopt a pro-active approach to early identification of issues before they impact the production activities.
* Work effectively with colleagues, customers, suppliers and all stakeholders and uphold the company values at all times. Knowledge, Skills and Experience required:
* A degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or similar technical subject or significant industry experience.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in a technical support / Mechanical Engineer role in a manufacturing environment. Aerospace experience is very desirable.
* Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills of complex mechanical designs.
* Effective and accurate use of MS Office applications and ERP systems.
* Ability to produce clear, concise and accurate written and verbal communications at all levels.
* Effective listening skills and ability to clarify and confirm technical support requirements.
* Confidence in a fast moving and changing environment with the skill to prioritise and delegate tasks as the business or customer demands.
* Knowledge of the roles and responsibilities of a Certification Verification Engineer (CVE) for class (category) one parts and assemblies, ideally within an aerospace environment is desirable

Working arrangements: Monday - Friday: 37 hours per week. Flexibility towards working practices to accommodate business need as required.
