Braintree District Council is committed to improving environmental issues and maintaining the District’s clean and green operations are high on our list of priorities.

We are seeking keen, committed and dedicated individuals to add to existing teams in our Food Waste service. You will need to be enthusiastic and motivated, and demonstrate a flexible, committed and positive approach to service delivery.

You must be prepared to work in all weathers, and unsociable hours including weekends or evenings when required. Protective clothing and on the job training will be provided. You must hold a driving licence up to 7.5 tonne in order to drive food waste vehicles (HGV would be desirable)

Applicants will be required to carry out a variety of tasks necessary to operate an efficient front line service:

To deliver and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction in relation to this service creating a clean, green and safe District for the residents of Braintree
To undertake the collection, processing and disposal of food waste from residential premises throughout the Braintree District
To assist with the collection of all types of refuse and recycling from residential and commercial premises in various receptacles, across all routes when required to do so i.e. wheeled bins, trade bins, clear, black and blue sacks, sorting on site where applicable
To assist in carrying out and recording daily/weekly vehicle and equipment checks in full compliance with the manufacturers guidance, drivers handbook and report any defects using the defect reporting procedure
