Is a market leader within the general insurance arena that is going through a period of exciting change. They are currently seeking like minded professionals to join the Business and be integral elements to its continued success.

Purpose of role

This role is the first point of contact for queries relating to the companys business performance and the successful candidate will work closely with the CEO Office, the Chief Financial Officer and other senior stakeholders within Finance and across the business.

The role requires pro-active interaction with the companys External Reporting and Investor Relations / Corporate Strategy Teams, as well as the Finance Leadership Team (FLT) and the wider business to drive and add value to month end reporting, analysis and commentary. The incumbent is required work with the business to ensure that performance against strategic goals and key performance indicators is reflected in concise and balanced monthly reporting. Early insight into any risks and issues relating to the delivery of groups Strategic Plan should be escalated.

Key Accountabilities

On a monthly basis deliver all Board and Exco month end materials, including Balanced Scorecards, to required deadlines

Assist with the delivery of quarterly results by providing senior management with an early insight into groups likely performance. Knowledge of Actuarial financial booking processes is beneficial

Manage the quarterly production of groups total entity and business unit Return on Total Equity (RoTE) and Economic Profit performance metrics, ensuring stakeholders support and understand the basis of calculation. Maintain a working knowledge of groups capital resource and capital requirement calculations, and the methods used to apportion these across business units

Work with Companys newly formed MI Hub to define and deliver Finances BAU month end financial and non financial reporting outputs, negotiating service level agreements where appropriate

On a quarterly basis organise and deliver Quarterly Business Reviews to required deadlines

Review and challenge format, content and message of reporting packs to ensure that KPIs and commentary are robust

Identify, engage and manage relationships with key stakeholders - promote accountability, ownership, quality standards and best practice by collaborating with the business and category business partners

Act as gatekeeper and editor of all ExCo and Board month end reporting, including balanced scorecards / MI Packs. Present the facts and challenge the business to say it like it is rather than focussing on good news only.

Ensure that the story being told is succinct and relevant to the reader and that it is supported by KPIs. This will require the use of insurance knowledge and commercial acumen, where appropriate, to edit and challenge submissions to ensure that groups performance is reported in a clear, concise and balanced manner and that the Board are aware of all material risks and opportunities to our targets

Ensure contributors to month end reports understand the importance of maintaining an audit trail to support exhibits and commentaries to ensure that the analysis being communicated to the Board and ExCo is robust

Obtain stakeholder feedback to continually improve and develop the reports to maintain relevance to business decisions, business strategy, external factors and forward looking content

Champion a culture of team spirit and help ensure that the objectives of the wider team are delivered

Ideal Skills and Experience you will need

Business: insurance industry knowledge, commercial acumen and experience of reporting on, or utilising, the profit levers applicable to an insurance company

Technical: Understand insurance KPIs and the basis of their calculation, data interpretation and analysis (e.g. trends and warning signs) and the limitations of such analysis; business process reengineering

Communication skills: excellent written and verbal communication skills; ensuring all commentary is succinct and accurate to make sure the reader is aware of key issues; experience of Board level reporting.

Professional: Relationship building and management, stakeholder engagement, influencing and persuading; building and applying appropriate governance and control structures
