Job Description:

A vacancy exists for a Senior Category Manager within the Utilities Procurement Team, based at Central Office. In this role, you will be responsible for the development, leadership and implementation of innovative category strategies/plans that meet the future needs/demands of the business and ensure they are agreed with Key Stakeholders and in line with the overall Procurement department targets & objectives.

The Utilities Procurement team manages around £180M worth of energy procurement & sales. The role has line management responsibility for the Utilities Procurement team comprising a Category Manager and Senior Utilities Procurement Analyst. In this role you will be responsible for the development of the team and the categories to ensure implementation of best practice.

The role holder will need to develop and build strong relationships with Key Stakeholders.

* The role will be accountable / responsible for implementing successful sourcing strategies which support the overall business strategy and ensuring best practice application of Category Management is followed.
* Ensure appropriate market & position monitoring is in place to execute agreed risk management strategies. This includes all systems and processes.
* Prioritises projects and monitors progress of category plans and ensures risks are mitigated.
* Plans, coordinates, manages and leads multi-skilled cross functional teams in order to achieve best value.
* Ensure engagement and sponsorship with stakeholders in all category plans. Positively and proactively ensure that the outcome of the category management process meets their requirements.
* Maintain and strengthen close working relationships with Group and Divisional Procurement.
* Support the Head of Category in the development and implementation of team and Departmental vision.
* Take the commercial lead to ensure necessary contractual arrangements are constructed, negotiated, agreed and service level agreements are successfully constructed. To have the ability to review and advise on contractual layout and SLA's and KPI's.
* To lead/manage and develop their teams including their understanding of the role of a Category Manager within the organisation and the expectations by way of category and contract management/escalation
* Monitor the performance of agreements and proactively take action to ensure all parties meet expectations to the contracts in line with agreed escalation plan.
* Maximise use of all eProcurement tools within the category.
* Manages and monitors the contract database to ensure contract renewal is strategically managed.
* Understands and applies the Procure to Pay process within their category and across the team including any impact on contractual agreements and transactional processes.
* Is an advocate of all Procurement policies and procedures and promotes adoption and compliance across the organisation.
* Tracks, records and reports performance of suppliers, categories,self and those who report in to him/her.
* Participate in or lead cross category and cross functional projects as required.

Candidate Requirements:

A proven track record of leading and delivering Category Management. developing, agreeing and delivering Procurement strategies with strong experience in promoting and the regular use of e-purchasing tools. Understands the appropriate level of engagement required for successful delivery including a good grasp of P2P requirements and final delivery of Contract Handover
Experienced negotiator and strong influential skills to obtain buy in and engagement
Conversant with supply chain analysis and dynamics
Ability to develop a detailed working knowledge of all regulatory requirements relevant to the contracts and spend categories within their and their teams remit
Commercially astute and financially literate

Project Management Qualifications:
Experience within another commercial function either within BS or outside
Experience of leading a variety of key categories
Utilities or commodities procurement experience
Qualifications
Degree level or equivalent
Competent in Category Management tools and Techniques
Competent in Negotation and supplier relationship management
Desirable
CIPS Level 6
