Role Profile:

Our client is leading engineering services business in the defence, marine, facilities management, environmental and nuclear sectors. They are seeking a Category Sourcing Specialist who will be accountable for executing, implementing and managing performance of Group-wide contracts in support of the overall category strategy covering c£200M GBP of annual pan-divisional spend in the engineering category (MRO, raw materials, build to print assemblies, technical services, plant hire).

Suitable candidates will have procurement / sourcing experience within an engineering environment, ideally sourcing for a large complex business. This role requires a proactive individual who can demonstrate their ability to deliver change through communication and reduce cost.

Category Management:
Provides input into the overall category strategy, including market perspectives, contractor performance, industry cost structures and Total Cost of Ownership drivers
Where appropriate, takes ownership of the strategy for major sub-category spend, including delivery of associated cost optimisation targets

Supplier Management
Provides input on individual contract performance in order to inform category and executive level supplier engagement
Where appropriate, takes ownership of strategic supplier relationships for major sub-category spend

Sourcing
Captures specific business requirements and builds into ITT or RFx documents
Executes group-wide or pan-division sourcing activity using current sourcing methodologies in order to put fit-for-purpose supply contracts in place and support major bid activity as required.
Accountable for the implementation of pan-divisional contracts so that they can be used in practice by the business units

Skills/Background required

Degree Educated - Engineering, science, Supply Chain Management or other relevant degree
Relevant experience in Sourcing & Procurement (5+ years)
Will have led the end-to-end sourcing process for multi-million pound contracts within the engineering category (MRO, raw materials, build to print assemblies, technical services, plant hire)
Previous experience of delivering successful sourcing projects in large, complex and decentralised corporate environments
Highly commercial and analytical, with a proven ability to use procurement to unlock value for the business
Strategic thinker, with the ability to establish and communicate the vision and strategic direction for the category
Will have successfully engaged across all levels of an organisation from board level to mid-management and tactical personnel
Excellent interpersonal, listening and influencing skills
Delivery focussed with a pragmatic, hands-on approach that enables strategies to be fully executed
Ability to operate successfully in dual reporting or matrix organisations

Remuneration
Salary in the region of £40-£45k + bonus (circa 10%), company pension, 25 days annual leave + Bank Holidays
