Mode of Employment: Full time only In June 2013, Siemens Rail Systems was awarded the Thameslink Rolling Stock Project (TRSP). This project is a key element in the £6 billion government funded upgrade to the Thameslink passenger rail network (the Thameslink Programme), which is described as being of national strategic importance. The TRSP covers the delivery, long term maintenance and financing of 1,140 second generation Desiro City rail vehicles and the construction and financing of two maintenance depots, one at Hornsey in north London and one at Three Bridges in West Sussex. Now all of the negotiations for the TRSP are completed, recruitment of further key positions to deliver this exciting, high-profile project is underway.
The Project Manager is responsible for the delivery of the Specialist Equipment supply contracts at a depot construction site and supports the Project Manager in the delivery of the overall depot works. Performs project management activities (defining scheduling, budget, risk, change, opportunity and resource management activities). Supports technical reviews of the construction design and witnesses the commissioning and installation of the works in line with our contracts. Executes continuous improvement plan. Performs active role in maintaining client relationship.
What are my responsibilities?
Customer & stakeholder Management
* Actively gathers information on the customer and the customer's requirements/targets.
* Involves the customer in decision-making and provides regular information.
* Manages customer's expectations and concludes the project to the satisfaction of the customer.
* Identifies/creates additional opportunities out of on-going projects.
* Close liaison with TSA team for technical support and information relating to Siemens Rolling Stock. Risk, Opportunity, Issue Management
* Identify and assess all project risks, utilising available risk measurement tools/relevant risk registers. Ensures transfer of significant risks to RL Division risk register.
* Devises suitable strategies for risk mitigation (elimination/reduction).
* Implements procedure for solving issues and problems (identification, analysis, actions and controlling) with all necessary internal and external partners).
* Identifies and minimizes non-conformance costs.
* Ensures risk monitoring in all project phases.
* Throughout the project lifecycle identifies, assesses and implements all opportunities for improving results.
* Assesses risks in terms of effects on other areas, defines measures/actions to be taken and ensures early escalation. Contract/Change and Claim Management
* Influences and drives the delivery of the relevant contracts to be in place.
* Negotiates with stakeholders on Change Requests and incorporates them into contracts.
* Defines and agrees with stakeholders the strategy for making/mitigating/defending claims.
* Involves the project team in the identification of changes and claims.
* Assesses contracts in terms of claim-relevant significance, ensures examination by a legal expert.
* Puts the strategy for making/mitigating claims into practice.
* At an early stage, informs customer, management and project team of deviations. Supplier Management
* Selects and involves subcontractors/partners according to defined criteria.
* Monitors the performance of the sub-contractors/partners, conducts escalation where there are discrepancies, initiates timely suitable action
* Selects subcontractors/partners based on strategic viewpoints
* Identifies further opportunities for business with the partner(s).
* Involves procurement at an early stage complying with Siemens procurement rules
* Negotiates based on defined requirements with subcontractors/partners and enters into back-to-back agreements in alignment with the customer contract.
* Plans the procurement strategy with the business co-ordinator and the respective organizational units procurement. Financial Management
* Manages the project within the defined financial targets (budget, target costing, target profit)
* Working with the Commercial partner and Finance Controller, ensures compliance with IFRS (International Finance and Reporting Standards) and that order entry calculations are done and documented and regular financial controlling and reporting is carried out.
* Lives full responsibility for the financial results of the project through the set-up of the Project Manager Target Agreement. Project Planning, Controlling and Closure
* Handles all PM@Siemens relevant planning elements and milestone work results according to the project category.
* Assists with the set-up and maintenance of the Siemens Project Management Plan.
* Monitors continuously the project status, taking into account commercial requirements, identifying early discrepancies and initiating actions.
* Defines requirements for quality management (audits, test seals, acceptance checks) according to Quality Management guidelines/standards.
* Holds regular project status meetings and organizes acceptance of milestone work results.
* Manages acceptance of works and services, performing quality controls.
* Documents all work results according to the valid standards.
* Organises acceptance tests and final project handover to contract partner/customer. Leadership, Communication & Collaboration

* Agrees targets with project staff and delegates responsibilities and authority where appropriate.
