This is a managerial role reporting into the Head of Operations Sourcing at The Royal Bank of Scotland. The Sourcing Group Manager (SGM) will be part of the Business Services Sourcing team, which also includes Technology and Property Sourcing. This role could be based in our Edinburgh or London office.
As SGM D level, you will be responsible for leading a team of other SGMs who will be responsible for devising and developing procurement strategies, procedures, policies and standards, and providing senior level guidance group-wide.
You will create and manage plans and policies of strategic importance which contribute to the delivery of group objectives. Effective networking and collaboration across our Supply Base, Regions and Business Units to ensure RBS secures optimum value from the supply market, is essential.

This role is offered on a 6 month secondment/fixed term contract and can be based from either Edinburgh or London.
As Team Lead, across a number of categories, you will be responsible for:
Leading and motivating the team
Managing ~£100 million annual spend Globally
Developing and managing effective and collaborative relationships with key senior stakeholders in order to determine customer needs and meet your key deliverables.
Bringing market awareness and commercial intelligence to Business strategies, identifying new areas of opportunity and potential revenue generation
Delivering Value for the Group and its Businesses - Deliver our benefits commitments through a combination of cost reduction, revenue generation, and demand management techniques.
Year on Year Benefit Delivery, including income generation, cost avoidance and cost reduction
Engage, influence and work directly with a team of Business Partners and Stakeholders spanning all levels, to deliver commercial expertise to ensure best value is achieved for RBS
Develop and deliver the RBS Procurement Strategy and lead the integration of the strategic sourcing programme within the Logistics and Risk Space to ensure Procurement Services is influencing and fully aligned to the Business
Contract negotiation and supplier management as part of an end to end business process. Upon occasion, you may be required to assist the Head of Operations with management responsibilities, or if you become involved in project work, you may be required to coordinate and matrix manage individuals.
Bringing market awareness and commercial intelligence to Business strategies, identifying new areas of opportunity and potential revenue generation
Ensuring that all contracts and suppliers within your remit are managed appropriately according to best practice and in a cost effective manner.
Delivering Procurement Services activities, in line with programme milestones, to support existing and any new Divestment programmes
Working with Businesses, develop proposals to ensure that risk management processes as applied to third parties are cost effective and fit for purpose.
Engage and actively contribute to all "Think Outside the Bank" activities through embedding such philosophy into all activities undertaken in role.
You will have proven leadership capabilities
In addition to being a purchasing professional (you may be CIPS qualified, or qualified by experience), you will have a comprehensive understanding of the commercials of business and be able to deploy that knowledge effectively.
You should be experienced in managing relationships effectively with both internal stake-holders and suppliers.
You will have knowledge of sourcing across a variety of categories
