EXPERIENCE
* Experience in a Procurement or Supply Chain role and have a working or expert knowledge of EU Procurement Law and its impact on the role.
* Experience of introducing innovative solutions into the supply chain process would be beneficial and have commercial and financial awareness.
* It would be desirable but not essential to have your MCIPS qualification or be actively working towards it and have previous experience as a Buyer in the Utilities/Public Sector.
THE ROLE
Your role as an Innovation and Category Buyer will be to provide both short and long term sourcing solutions ensuring business continuity, mitigating risk and demonstrating value. You will be responsible for the delivery of EU compliant tendering processes and leading the business in those tenders that fall below EU thresholds. Your responsibilities will include:
* Ensuring compliance to all relevant UK & EU law with respect to the procurement of Goods & Services, advising and leading the business where necessary e.g. Bribery Act, EU Procurement Law.
* Complying to all relevant internal policies with respect to procurement are key to the role, again you will act as advisor to the business where necessary e.g. Contract & Sanction Rules.
* Developing an in depth understanding of the category relevant supply chains, ensuring business continuity, mitigating risk and delivering maximum value.
* Managing and delivering compliance in all EU category relevant tenders and act as a key point of contact to advise and lead the business in the procurement of category specific goods & services.
* Supporting the relevant Contract Manager and Business Stakeholders in the day to day functioning of the contract e.g. facilitating processing of purchase orders/purchase requisitions with support colleagues.
ABOUT YOU
You will need to communicate results and deliver/explain/influence strategies to a broad range of colleagues so you must have the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels within the organisation using the full spectrum of techniques and resources available.
Site investigations and support are an essential component of this role so you must have a current valid EU driving licence and be flexible to travel across the Yorkshire region.
