The purpose of this role as a Purchasing Assistant will be to assist in the identification of material and service framework requirements across all Amey business divisions together with contract specific requirements. Utilising the Amey procurement process the successful applicant will put in place effective framework agreements for use by the Amey business divisions.
Responsibilities:
*Apply the Amey Corporate Procurement Process.
*Work with Amey business divisions to identify Amey purchasing needs for framework agreements in areas of Category responsibility.
*Evaluate the marketplace and supply base to develop category plans for allocated category responsibilities.
*Develop sourcing plans for areas of category responsibility.
*Carry out supplier evaluations in line with category approach and procedure.
*Prepare detailed bid / tender documents for supply chain to price.
*Evaluate tenders and pricing submissions.
*Work with supply chain and negotiate to obtain most competitive pricing combined with security of supply / service, considering quality, whole life costing and risk profile.
*Prepare tender reports and recommendations.
*Develop and execute specific product / service Master Agreements as part of supplier / category management responsibilities.
*Achieve and report procurement cost savings.
*Work with Transaction Services Master Data team to ensure robust procurement data in SAP.
*Support the Business Divisions with sound procurement support.
*Carry out 360 degree supplier reviews.
Skills & Experience:
*A member of or working towards corporate membership of CIPS
*Ability to interpret data and analyse using Excel
*Product knowledge in determined category areas
*A thorough understanding of tendering and purchasing process.
*A clear understanding of domestic and European contract law.
*Knowledge of SAP procurement modules preferable
*Procurement expertise in the Infrastructure maintenance and Built Environment asset management sectors.
*A track record in conducting firm, fair and ethical negotiations with suppliers
*A fully committed team worker who is able to communicate and implement procurement policy and process throughout the organisation.
*An effective communicator and negotiator.
