CONSULTANT ACUTE MEDICINE- Uk vacancy

Job title: CONSULTANT ACUTE MEDICINE
Organization: KING’S COLLEGE HOSPITAL (NHS) FOUNDATION TRUST
LOCUM
Positions: 2
Deadline: 5/07/2013
Reference: 213-16-MS8813-MED
Job information:
Acute Medicine at King’s is developing rapidly. We wish to appoint up to two Locum Consultants in Acute Medicine (AM), joining an existing Team of seven Consultants plus a Clinical Lead.

These posts are available immediately, and will be for a period of six months initially, while we progress substantive recruitment.

We established a 60-bedded Acute Medical Unit (AMU) in October 2009, and this, plus subsequent developments, have helped us to provide increased input from Senior Physicians in the Early Management of Patients admitted as Emergencies, and to reduce the average length of stay of our patients.

We are now well advanced in the development of Acute Medicine at King’s.

Our Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) moved into a newly refurbished, dedicated space in February 2013.

Our current priorities are the development of Ambulatory Emergency Care (we are in the third cohort of the Ambulatory Emergency Care Delivery Network), and progress towards the delivery of a seven day/week Service (we anticipate expanding Consultants numbers to ten by the end of 2013 to achieve this).

The AM Consultants are supported by a full Multidisciplinary Team including Clinical Administrators, Therapists and Social Workers, and the Medical Support consists of Medical Specialist Registrars (SpR), FY2s, and FY1s.
There is an additional Medical SpR 24/7 working, primarily at the interface with the Emergency Department.

Informal enquiries:
Contact  Dr Jane Evans, Clinical Lead, Acute Medicine, telephone: 020 3299 6088, or Dr Ed Glucksman, Clinical Director, Trauma, Emergency and Acute Medicine, telephone: 020 3299 3541.
