Due to increased business development activity and technical capability, A major projects team within a large system integrator has more opportunities in its pipeline than it is able to pursue and wants to invest in resource to manage the sales function.

SELLING:
C4I Solutions / Combat Systems / System integration

SELLING TO:
International defence market (Maritime / Land)

THE PACKAGE:
£60K £75k basic plus Annual Bonus, Blue Chip benefits.

THE ROLE:
To lead all aspects of sales activity such that major projects business unit meets or exceeds its order Intake targets in both the short and long term.
We are seeking a strong and motivated sales and marketing leader with experience of selling solutions and services for a systems integrator in the international defence market.
The individual will be able to demonstrate personal success at winning deals valued over £50M and will have a broad understanding of at least the maritime and C4I markets with areas of deep personal expertise.

In addition to personally pursuing and closing new business, the role holder will be responsible to the business unit Director for all sales team activity, sales strategy and sales management.

The role will require a balanced mix of personal sales ability and leadership skills and whilst it undoubtedly contains both strategic and operational elements, it is certainly not a desk job!

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Champion the marketing, sales and tendering process from lead generation through to deal closure.
  • Articulate the benefits and value of the product offering and differentiate the approach from competitors.
  • Forge, develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Network extensively and effectively to understand the scope of technologies and solutions, technological developments and market drivers.
  • Lead and manage other sales managers, ensuring the most effective and efficient use is made of available resource.
  • Assemble, manage and motivate bid teams.
  • Close deals.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
The appointee will be a credible industry figure with demonstrable experience ideally including:
- successful business development in a Defence & Security Market environment, securing government and commercial contracts of £50M+
- experience of creating commercially innovative, value-adding solutions
- selecting and working with partners
- the international marketplace
- platform-level integration solutions
- C4I solutions
- Sales team leadership
