Senior Procurement Officer
To work as part of the team to develop, promote and embed effective procurement arrangements in the authority in order to maximise value for money (including the development, review and updating of the procurement strategy, Contract Standing Orders and associated documentation)

To work, in conjunction with internal clients to develop annual procurement and savings plans, to establish value for money contracts delivering agreed outcomes to residents To be a custodian of good practice, to provide advice and support to relevant managers on procurement related issues including aspects of category spend, legislation, cost and data analysis, sourcing strategy, market trends and intelligence To provide strategic advice and participate in key tender exercises as agreed with managers.

MAIN DUTIES:
1. To support or help commission support, as appropriate, for major corporate/strategic procurement projects.

2. To extract and analyse management and financial information to identify internal and external cost drivers and secure cost and efficiency savings.

3. To work in partnership with departmental procurement champions to ensure that procurement activities are processed in a timely and efficient manner, ensuring that savings and efficiency savings are identified reported and captured effectively

4. To provide strategic procurement advice to departments, including management of procurement risk 5. To assist in the management of the councils contract management function

6. To ensure the timely and periodic production of reports and statistical information to the Corporate Management Team and cabinet.

7. To develop positive working relationships internally with other departments and members and externally with partner organisations and to represent the Council at both internal and external meetings.

8. To ensure that duties are undertaken with due regard to and compliance with the Data Protection Act, Freedom of Information Act and other related legislation.

CANDIDATE:
Will have Good project management skills
Experience of Local Authority Procurement and contract management.
Excellent IT skills
Be able to work as part of a team as well as be self motivated.
£250 to £300 a day
