A Coventry based organisation operating in the utilities sector is currently seeking to recruit a Group Category Manager to head up its IT procurement. The aim of the role is to deliver a sustainable supply chain to ensure the organisation's external IT expenditure is effectively managed to deliver the lowest cost and highest standards.

Key Accountabilities:-

* Manage and lead the category to ensure that it meets and exceeds Business Plan targets.
* Ensure the category has clear targets and that these are effectively monitored, reported and delivered.
* Implement a category management approach to procurement and lead creative / strategic thinking.
* Ensure tenders and contracts comply with all regulatory requirements, procedures and incorporate the requirements of SAP.
* Ensure that suppliers are effectively managed and driven to continuously improve their performance and costs. Ensure suppliers identify value adding opportunities and innovations.
* Effectively liaise and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that their business needs are met.
* The role may also be required to undertake responsibility for specific high value, high risk categories of spend, including all the associated purchasing activity.

In order to succeed in this role it is expected that you will have:

* A strong commercial background with ideally an appropriate professional qualification e.g. CIPS.
* Experience as a people manager.
* An understanding and experience of the EU Procurement Regulations (Public or Utilities).
* Significant experience and knowledge of purchasing processes, e.g. managing tenders & contracts.
* A good understanding of category management with a proven ability to develop and articulate category strategies and have a breadth of category experience.
* Highly effective skills in supplier management and development.
* Proficient in using analytical tools and techniques.
* Experience of managing large projects.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Good influencing skills.
* An ability to manage stakeholders at all levels.
* The capability to be self reliant - able to work on own initiative.
* The ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise own workloads.

Qualifications:

* The role holder should be educated to degree level or equivalent and ideally CIPS qualified or working towards.

The salary for this role is up to £58,000 plus an excellent benefits package including car allowance, bonus, pension, share save scheme and private healthcare.
