What is the purpose of this role?

The Head of Procurement - Goods and Materials is accountable for the development, management and maintenance of a resilient and sustainable set of procurement initiatives that provide Amey with a competitive advantage in all markets in which it operates, enabling the company to realise its growth and profitability targets. The Procurement function is required to be a trusted, value-adding business partner to the Amey operating divisions, delivering an annual RoI that matches or exceeds peer performance.Size and scope: Management accountability for the management of £350m of external expenditure annually.

Role Specific Responsibilities

Joint ownership and responsibility (in sector area) for delivery of Amey Group Procurement and Fleet cost savings target together with the development and delivery of outstanding working relationships between Amey Business Divisions and Group Procurement and Fleet divisional Heads of Procurement

What will this role involve?

-Developing a Goods and Materials sector specific procurement vision, plan and strategy with an associated road map and measurable milestones to meet the requirements of the relevant Amey business divisional strategies.
-Participate in the development of the required business systems strategy to underpin the Procurement management processes and support efficient process delivery
-Contribute to the setting and delivering of an annual Procurement business plan with measurable deliverables and with due cognizance to the Goods and Materials market place together with the overall requirements of interfacing Amey business divisions
-Delivery of the Procurement Business Plan via close working with Group Procurement Business Divisional Heads of Procurement
-Establishing and developing a high performing Procurement team for the Goods and Materials sector, ensuring that stretching functional targets are cascaded into individual objectives for all team members
-Establishing and implementing of Goods and Materials sector category strategies together with associated procurement plans to meet the needs of each Business Division within the overall Procurement strategy
-Development and implementation of Goods and Materials sector Framework agreements demonstrating contribution to savings targets and security of supply with excellence
-Provide the necessary Procurement resources to facilitate Bid support, Contract Mobilisation and on-going Procurement support to Amey business divisions and contracts
-Setting and agreeing with the Group Procurement Operations Director the criteria for evaluating Amey suppliers, together with sector specific evaluation criteria and ensuring compliance with those criteria.
-Leadership of at least one of the Procurement and Fleet organisation enabler work-streams and ensuring appropriate milestones are met
-Collaboration with Business Divisional Heads of Procurement in supporting make / buy decisions to reduce cost and drive operational efficiencies with due cognizance to the sector marketplace and competition
-Owning sector specific Amey supplier relationships at a strategic level, enabling leverage to be used when required to meet specific business requirements
-Developing and implementing the Goods and Materials supplier development road map and programme to maximise the measurable value delivered through the Amey supply chain
-Developing and implementing arrangements for increasing the awareness and competence of Goods and Materials Procurement staff in Procurement management best practices
-An Ambassador in driving the Amey sustainability agenda with our suppliers
