An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Operations Manager to join a leading retailer based in Sutton on Trent, Nottingham. The Operations Manager will be involved in the planning, coordination and control of all manufacturing processes and all other associated operations onsite. The Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring that goods, services and resources are produced and managed effectively and efficiently and that manufactured products are produces at the right cost, meeting quality standards and are manufactured on time and in full and in compliance with Health and Safety Legislation.

The Operations Manager role will involve:

  • Overseeing the production process, managing the production schedule
  • Ensuring that the production is cost effective
  • Ensuring that products are produced on time and meet quality standards
  • Calculating resource needed (human & material)
  • Drafting timescales for tasks
  • Estimating costs and setting the quality standards
  • Managing budgets
  • Monitoring the production processes and adjusting schedules as needed
  • Managing the selection and maintenance of equipment
  • Monitoring product standards and implementing quality control programs
  • Liaising among different departments e.g. suppliers and managers
  • Assist will development of Operations Manual to ensure all processes and systems are documented within the department
  • The successful Operations Manager must have the following skills and experience:
  • Extensive managerial experience - both operations and personnel
  • In depth knowledge of production planning and scheduling
  • Knowledge of procurement and material sourcing as well as waste management
  • Experience in quality control systems
  • Working understanding of health and safety best practice and legislation
  • In depth understanding of the principles and tools of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools within a high volume manufacturing facility
  • Excellent communications skills
  • IT proficient

The salary for the Operations Manager is £35-40K per annum.
