Our client are expanding their Procurement Function in response to increasing demand from the Group Board to realize tough savings targets.

The Category Manager will report into the Group Procurement Manager and will be responsible for creating and supporting the development of Purchasing/Category/Supplier strategies within the Group that will provide a structured approach to managing spend and will identify savings opportunities whilst supporting the current and future needs of the business. This will involve working closely with the key stakeholders within the Group to determine business requirements, determining appropriate procurement strategies that will deliver cost efficiencies and then identifying and developing suppliers to support the business and its customers. Take responsibility for locking in savings and benefits through ongoing contract and supplier management activities. In addition, to drive compliance by the wider business with vendor related processes, including the use of e-procurement tools.

Key Skills and Experience

5 years minimum previous experience in a procurement environment purchasing goods and services, preferably within the public sector.
Competent in carrying out all aspects of Purchasing lifecycle within a defined delegation level including;

oDevelopment of sourcing strategies
oSupplier selection and prequalification
oDrafting tender documentation and tendering contracts
oPlacing contracts
oSupplier feedback / development activities

Skilled at analysing vast amounts of data to pull out meaningful insights.
Lead initiatives to reduce cost base, increase flexibility and underpin supply reliability within the supply chain.
Develop sourcing strategies aligned with company and procurement objectives and conduct procurement programmes to identify suitable suppliers for the business.
To provide tactical support for ad hoc purchasing requests and contract related queries.
CIPS qualified preferred.
Knowledgeable and familiar with e-procurement tools and P2P platforms.
