Ashford and St. Peter's Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Applications are invited for 2 Consultants in Emergency Medicine to join a team of 5.4 WTE Consultants in the Emergency Department at St Peter's Hospital. The post is full time, attracting 11.5 PAs and a 1-7 on-call commitment (Category A intensity 5%), and part-time applicants would be most welcome to apply.
We are an enthusiastic, forward thinking department that strives to deliver a comprehensive emergency service. We have a friendly, cohesive and loyal team that are working towards providing the very best care for our patients, with an aim to continuously improving how we deliver emergency care.
We provide shop floor consultant delivered and consultant led service between the hours of 08-20 weekdays and 08-17 at weekends. We take an active role in all aspects of high quality patient care, from the usual running of the department, supervision of juniors and ENPs, to ensuring all clinical and performance standards are met.
We are a trauma unit, and have consultant led trauma calls within hours, and have an active ambulatory care facility that is in the early stages of development.
We currently see 92000 patients per annum of which 25% are paediatric. Paediatric patients are seen in an adjoining area staffed by paediatric nurses and jointly staffed by Emergency Medicine juniors and paediatricians. There are imminent plans for a paediatric expansion, which will be followed by an expansion and reconfiguration of the Emergency Department.

The trust is putting a lot of investment into the urgent care pathway, with expansion up to 10 Emergency Consultants planned for, we are hoping to recruit to 2 further posts for Emergency physicians with an interest in paediatrics, and we would especially welcome anybody with an interest in ultrasound or critical care.

Ashford and St Peter's NHS Trust provides health care to a large area of NW Surrey, the St Peter's site is the urgent centre, Ashford has a minor injuries unit run independently by Greenbrooks and runs as an elective site.
We are based on the outskirts of the M25 junction 11, and enjoy the best of both worlds by being in close proximity to London but also in a more rural setting. There are excellent local schools and plenty of outdoor pursuits that can be taken part in.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic group of consultants who are keen to ensure we deliver the best patient care possible.
Please contact Dr Helen Cannon Clinical Lead of the Emergency Department on 01932 722117 for an informal chat and we welcome you to come for an informal visit.
