Role Overview
NHS SBS are recruiting some exciting new opportunities to join a newly formed procurement team. Key Responsibilities To undertake purchasing activity, to ensure timescales are met deadlines achieved. To action requisitions undertaking appropriate purchasing activity. To monitor contracts and supplier performance and ensure contract compliance by interaction with the customers and utilising data and information to develop the most cost effective and appropriate supply route. To participate and where appropriate lead meetings relating to contracts. To undertake specific projects, including pre and post tender discussions with both customers and suppliers. To identify potential savings opportunities through analysis of database information and preparation of statistical reports and recommendations. To provide support to Category Managers, Managers and team as required. To sign orders in accordance with signing protocols ensuring they are correct and comply with all relevant policies and procedures. To ensure full compliance with all current and relevant legislation, Trust Standing Financial instructions and departmental policies and procedures on Procurements and general management issues including Health & Safety, Employment Policies and Corporate Governance. To provide reports to management at agreed intervals and as required to internal and external customers. To understand and comply with the aims and objectives of the business and the Trust. Essential Skills
NVQ Level 3 in Procurement or equivalent qualification
CIPS degree level Membership or working towards this qualification
Strong purchasing skills and depth of experience across a broad range of commodities
Negotiation and financial adjudication of complex contracts
Contract management experience including ability to produce Tenders and Quotations
Excellent presentation skills with ability to disseminate essential and complex information to multidisciplinary groups.
Computer literate and detailed knowledge of basic computer packages eg Microsoft Office, Internet
Excellent verbal and written skills (including report writing)
Can manage multiple projects simultaneously, can prioritise well and enjoys working on complex projects
Sound commercial knowledge
Ability to analyse complex information, interpret and/or present data in a clear, comprehensive format
Able to work independently with little supervision
Ability to lead and facilitate meetings
The ability to use own initiative and work under pressure
Ability to influence and gain credibility, in a clinical and management environment
Customer orientated, team player
