Senior Buyer - IT

Our Client, an iconic engineering and manufacturing organisation, currently require a senior IT Buyer.

This will be working in the purchasing area that manages non-production and in-direct related procurement across the Group. The department offers the chance to become involved in many areas within an exciting, dynamic and challenging environment.

Purpose of the Role: To identify commercial opportunities within (and where appropriate across) the various divisions in Information Technology Communicate commercial opportunities effectively and achieve buy in from all appropriate stakeholders Ensuring consistent procurement processes (RFI & RFP's are undertaken to select the final supplier (including as appropriate, assessment of supplier risk, management of objective evaluation, negotiation and contract generation).
To ensure that appropriate negotiation tools are employed to leverage most value for the company. Key categories will include:

The Senior Buyer will be responsible for the creation, communication and upholding of the Information Technology Category Strategy across the organisation and successfully communicate this to internal Stakeholders and Relationship managers.

The Senior Buyer will cover through category management and on an ad hoc basis the following categories Hardware Software Digital Media Telecoms Professional Services Network Infrastructure Outsourced services The Senior Buyer will be required from time to time, to support wider Departmental project(s) and initiatives over and above their designated categories.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
Capable of understanding, evaluating and communicating to both IT and Non-IT literate Stakeholders commercial propositions from Suppliers. Capable of managing supplier relationships at all levels, including participating in monthly and quarterly reviews, disputes, benchmarking and Supplier improvement tasks. The Senior Buyer will be expected to act as a subject matter expert on a consultative basis for non-IT based projects should there be elements of IT contained within. Hold a good understanding of IT contracts and key contract terms. Experience of in-direct procurement at a Senior Buyer level Ability to work independently and cooperatively in a diverse group Experienced third party negotiator Ability to analyse spend data from multiple reporting systems and to identify commercial opportunities within this data. Excellent organisation and administration skills General financial skills and knowledge, including understanding of balance sheet and budgeting. Qualifications: Preferable MCIPS qualified (or recognised other Purchasing Qualification)/University Degree
