Applications are invited for a full time Consultant Radiologist post, with a special interest in Cross sectional Imaging. Any candidate who is unable, for personal reasons, to work full time will be eligible to be considered for the post part time.
Dorset County Hospital is a Foundation Trust serving a population of 220,000 with 345 beds. The main diagnostic radiology facilities are based at Dorset County hospital in Dorchester, with satellite departments in Blandford, Bridport and Weymouth.
There are currently 9 Whole Time Equivalent Radiologists working in a modern Department with access to all Imaging Modalities. As part of the team, you will contribute towards delivering a high standard of Service in cross sectional imaging, and share the general workload of the Department with other colleagues. Job planning will be flexible to suit your specialist interest, and will be reviewed after three months in post. The on-call commitment for Out Of Hours and weekends is currently 1-8, Category A, and the appointee will be required to participate in the on-call Service.
The Radiology Department is fully digital in all areas with a well-established Capital Replacement Programme and is currently undergoing the planning of a second CT Scanner . MRI is provided by a Siemens 1.5T installed in October 2011 and the department offers a full range of Ultrasound Examinations using Philips, Toshiba and GE Units. Breast Imaging is provided at one stop Symptomatic Service. A new full Insignia PACS facility , integrated with CRIS and Dragon voice recognition reporting has recently been installed and electronic Order/Reporting is due to be rolled out later this year.
Dorchester and Dorset enjoy spectacular countryside with the added attraction and facilities that the coastal location brings. There are many excellent state and private schools and good train links exist with London which is only two and a half hours away. Ferry links to France operate from Weymouth and Poole, and flights to Europe are available from Bournemouth and Southampton.
