VHR are looking for an IT Commercial Director for a 6 months contract with a government body based in London to provide an end to end procurement service for all government departments, using insights based on real, up to date market knowledge to help identify and shape requirements up front and ensure that the best suppliers are engaged.
The IT Commercial Director will play a critical role in developing by shaping and managing the IT Category Team within the Commercial Delivery Directorate.
The candidate must demonstrate clear leadership to the IT category team, managing talent to ensure the team has an extremely high level of IT/digital capability and procurement expertise; act as a strong advocate for digital solutions and approaches, both across departments and at Board-level, and essentially make and implement significant contribution to the continuous improvement of the IT Commercial Delivery Team's performance to customers.
Individuals with extremely broad and deep knowledge of the digital/IT category; likely to have experience of other categories is desired. A high degree of market awareness, with demonstrable experience of innovative approaches to procuring services and of managing relationship with suppliers is useful. The chosen candidate should ideally have the confidence to provide strong leadership and an ability to manage, engage and motivate professional procurement teams to become a highly effective negotiator.
Detailed technical expertise and to be MCIPS qualified is not essential, but the ability to ask the right questions is a minimum requirement.
