Background:
Applications are invited for Specialty Doctors working ten Programmed Activities (PA) per week in Acute Medicine, to commence 2nd September 2013. South Tees Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest in the country and provides a full range of Medical and Surgical Specialties, with the exception of Transplant and Paediatric Surgery. There are active Postgraduate Surgical and Medical Programmes, and excellent library facilities are available.
Job Description:
This is a ten PA post and the successful candidate who will be attached to the Department of Acute Medicine working in the Acute Assessment Unit and Short Stay Ward. You will contribute to the Assessment, Investigation and Management of New Admissions to the Unit. A key role is the supervision of Junior Doctors attached to the Unit. You will be expected to give support to the Junior Medical Team, and to liaise closely with Consultants in the Management of Patients. You will be expected to be involved in AAU/Short Stay and Rapid Access Clinics at various times, according to Clinical requirements.
You will be encouraged to attend other Specialty Clinics, as you may feel appropriate in developing your Medical skills. Arrangements to develop skills in particular Procedures or Aspects of Clinical Medicine will be encouraged. You must have completed three years’ Medical experience at Core Training (CT)/Specialty Training (ST) level, and ideally have passed Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians (MRCP). Full General Medical Council (GMC) Registration is essential.
The posts, depending on experience CT/ST level, will attract an Out Of Hours supplement; we anticipate this to be a minimum of Band 1B.
