PURCHASING/Category PROCUREMENT MANAGER - PACKAGING


My client is a growing multi-site UK market leader in the food industry. Expanding both through organic growth and acquisition, an immediate requirement has arisen for a PACKAGING CATEGORY/ PURCHASING MANAGER. This is an immediate vacancy for an experienced procurement professional to join the Group Procurement function in the Midlands.

Role:

You will develop and deliver strategic procurement of PACKAGING across the Group. Driven to achieve both optimum cost and service levels contracts, you will naturally drive the business towards outstanding customer service. Budget responsibility could be up to £100M.

Managing a team of Buyers and Assistant Buyers, you will be responsible for setting and managing strategic category spend. You will be the expert for your key area, packaging, all forms of packaging, consumables and labels

You will complete an annual budget for your spend areas, negotiating trade terms with suppliers, managing and developing business critical relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

You will drive initiatives to reduce or remover unnecessary spends. You will set and execute the Group Procurement strategy.

Challenging cost savings targets, resolving business critical packaging supply issues, new packaging innovation and contract negotiation are key result areas

Requirements:

You will be a resilient and tenacious character, taking a natural proactive approach to meet or exceed business targets. You will be comfortable balancing the short term needs with the long term procurement strategy for the Group. Your well-developed communication and influencing skills will allow you to deliver a successful procurement strategy.

You will take ownership of the development, coaching and recruitment of your team. Ina addition, you will encourage your direct reports to take control of surcharge issues, working capital as well as payment and lead times.

A strong and natural negotiator, an organised team player who who will take ownership of the packaging business

MCIPS or equivalent is required, graduate calibre and a hunger to progress quickly within a fast paced and aggressively growing food group. Package includes car, pension, bonus, Healthcare etc. Ideally you will have e-procurement experience also

will suit an individual from the packaging industry or FMCG background with extensive packaging procurement and innovation experience
