MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
Work with Engineering & Maintenance to ensure maximum value for money is obtained in the purchase of support services and materials based on cost & performance.
Responsible for the commercial selection and negotiation of suppliers for the purchase of all parts, lubricants, special tools, test & diagnostic equipment and general workshop equipment used in the maintenance of the fleet
Continuously review and challenge the use of suppliers using both commercial and performance metrics to consolidate and minimize the supplier list.
Responsible for developing & managing the commercial terms and supply relationships with third party franchised and non franchised dealer service network.
Develop & manage the relationship with performance monitoring for the key parts and service suppliers, e.g., DAF, M Benz, Iveco, Ballyvesey, Imperial Commercials, F P & S, etc.
Analyse parts & service spend data to recommend improvements in pricing or supply.
Ensure the parts database on Enrich and contract parts pricing details and labour rates are accurately maintained.
Ensure that the inventory database on Enrich is maintained in good order and that parts usage and spend is routed through contracted suppliers.
Highlight any spend through non approved suppliers under the miscellaneous parts category on Enrich.
POSITION IN ORGANISATION
Reports directly to the Head of Procurement
Liaises directly with all levels of managers - Regional Directors, Regional Ops Managers, Local Site Managers across all Business Groups
Liaises directly with Directors and Managers of "Supplier" Groups, acting as either the "Primary" or the "Sole" contact.

DIMENSIONS AND LIMITS OF AUTHORITY
Functions primarily through co-ordination and co-operation, backed by the visible support of the Head of Procurement.
May add or remove suppliers from the authorised supplier list.
Authority to co-ordinate, negotiate and conclude the purchasing of a range of commodities as below: -
* ·Parts, lubes & equipment Value £15m
* ·Service Dealers Value £10m
QUALIFICATIONS
Full or Student Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS) or
A recognised Automotive Sector Engineering Repair or Maintenance certification.
General education - A level standard
Good negotiation skills.
People management skills.
Commercial vehicle technical knowledge (preferred but not essential).
Working knowledge of Microsoft software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access.
EXPERIENCE
Min. 5 years experience in procurement/buyer role in a multi-site, commercial organisation.
Experience in stock control/inventory or stock management systems in the automotive, service or manufacturing sectors.
Good level of computer literacy - spreadsheets.
Ability to think on their feet - to deal with real time situations.
Confident personality, effective verbal/non verbal communicator able to 'stand their ground'.
Customer focussed and sales orientated approach.
The ability to function independently without direct supervision.
Effective time management skills.
Proactive in approach in ability to work accurately and handle detailed information.
Remain 'effective' under pressure - continually aware in terms of pace, volume and time.
Literate / above average numeracy
