Paediatrics and Child Health Introduction
Paediatrics is the specialty that manages medical conditions affecting infants, children and young people. It is a large and diverse branch of medicine with areas ranging from acute sub-specialties such as neonatal medicine and paediatric intensive care to community-based sub-specialties such as neurodisability.

Application Process
The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) is co-ordinating the national recruitment process for entry at levels ST1 and 2 for all deaneries in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland for Round One 2014. Details of these deaneries and the posts available can be found on the ST Recruitment pages of the RCPCH website. The ST posts on offer will lead to a CCT/ CESR/CESR CP, subject to satisfactory progression and completion. Information on the length of training programme (subject to level of entry) can be found on the RCPCH website.
The application form will be available via the ST Recruitment pages from 10-00 GMT on 12h November 2013. Applications close at 17-00 GMT on 5th December 2013.
Before applying please remember to read the eligibility requirements as outlined in the Paediatric Person Specifications to assess your suitability for the level you wish to apply to. Complete the application form referring to "The Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health- Guidance for Applicants 2014". It is essential you refer to both the guidance and the person specifications before submitting your form.
Please note, applications must be submitted using the online application system by 17-00 GMT on 5th December 2012. Under no circumstances will late applications, or those submitted via another method be accepted.

Key dates
* Applications open at 10-00 noon GMT 12th November 2013 and close 10-00 GMT 5th December 2013.
* Applications will be processed, long listed and scored as necessary by early-mid January 2014.
* Interviews will take place from 6th January 2014 to 25th February 2014.
* Paediatric offers commence in accordance with local timetables following interview.
* All specialties to make first offers by 5th March 2014.
* Final holding date for Round 1 offers 13-00 GMT 12th March 2014.
* Final upgrade deadline for Round 1 offers 17-00 GMT 19th March 2014
* Paediatric clearing will commence after 19th March as necessary (unless all upgrading completed beforehand)

If you are eligible to attend interview you will be contacted by the deanery directly who will confirm venue, timings and documentation they require for interview.

Information for overseas applicants (From HEE Applicant Handbook)
If you are subject to immigration control, you will be required to provide evidence of your immigration status as at the closing date of the post to which you are applying.
If you have limited leave to remain, you will be considered for the post as long as your immigration category allows you to take up a training programme and is valid on the closing date of the post to which you are applying.
Where an applicant needs to "switch" to another visa category the Resident Labour Market Test will be applied (unless the applicant is a graduate of a UK medical / dental school).
If you need to "switch" your visa category, you should check the UKBA website to see if you may switch within the UK - http-//[URL removed]
If you do not fall within one of the categories cited, any sponsor will have to apply for a "restricted" CoS and you will have to return home and make an application out of country - the issue of a restricted CoS and / or a successful application for new entry clearance cannot be guaranteed.
Non UK / EEA nationals who have graduated from a UK medical or dental school will be exempt from the Resident Labour Market Test when moving from their Foundation Programme directly into specialty training.
